The West Wing star Martin Sheen plans to return to school when he quits
    the
award-winning American TV series later this year.

Despite his hugely successful Hollywood career, Sheen - who plays
    fictional
US President Josiah 'Jed' Bartlet in The West Wing - regrets that he
    never
attained a full education when he was younger.

He says: "I want to go back to school. I never got my high school
    diploma
and have always felt a need to address that.

"I'll be 65 this summer and have received a number of degrees, but no
    proper
    education since I started acting.

"My plan is to read English literature, philosophy and theology in
    Galway,
Ireland, where my late mother came from and where I'm also a citizen."

but on a more serious note ... wouldn't his attendance at lectures possibley cause more of a disturbance around the place ... ? wonder if it'll be a case of people coming up to him all the time asking for his autograph ?

I doubt he'll be attending regular lectures.
I'd say he'll be mre like a post-grad or research type student, flexible schedule areound his own studies.

Be great if we can get him into a fiew societies, attendance to Philsoc would rocket (but seeing as its been zero for most of the year that wouldn't be hard.)

Don't non EU members need to pay about 8,000 a year?, I could be wrong I'm not really familiar with NUIG's charging fees

think my course is like 4,500 a year but im irish don't know what a non EU guy would pay.

I'm sure the tuition fee is no problem for him. He'll have to pay - unis are cash-starved!

I wonder if he'd be interested in doing beginners' Irish?!

He should not recieve any special treatment... and he should have to pay.

well if he's a citizen and over 65, he is an oap, so would fees be free then?, if not he has citizenship and so wouldn't have to pay anyway

He disappeared up the river one day on a mission to terminate a department head who'd gone native.

    The horror, the horror.
