    Getting conflicting answers online.

I have it on good authority (tba) that county hall in Cork is the taller of the two.

I think the following happened - although I may have them the wrong way round...

County Hall built and is tallest
Liberty Hall built passes out Cork County Hall
Cork County Hall adds 'shed' to roof - reclaims tallest
Liberty Hall does likewise to claim the crown

If Liberty Hall is older then County Hall is tallest. It also explains why there's a green 'shed' on Libery Hall's roof.

Liberty Hall (as officially built 1965) is 195.8 feet
County Hall Cork (as officially built 1968) is 210 feet

    From Archiseek.....

Also- curiously- Cork County Hall has foundations over 50 feet deep.

Stupid Dublin City councillors not allowing skyscrapers - they had skyscrapers in New York in the 1800s ffs.

I didn't take the question as a pisstake- when it was posed I was genuinely curious as to which was bigger- which is why I looked it up- as did other people. I don't see where you are coming from with your comment above? Some people are genuinely interested in things like this. I pass Liberty Hall twice a day and have often looked up and counted the floors- this is not perverted in any way.

As to one building being bigger than the other- there is, as you are no doubt aware, a long standing rivalry between Dublin and "the real capital"- its not just in relation to architecture- its all pervasive.....
While on the topic of architecture- at least the planners in Cork appear to have some modicum of common sense- you don't see many monstrosities such as Liffey Valley down Leeside, thankfully......

    :confused::confused::confused:

That's presumably where Pet's comments stem from...

    Yes, exactly.

What I meant was, either way, they're both pitifully small for the tallest in their respective cities, not to mention in Ireland. And if one is taller than the other, it's not by much - a couple of feet or so I'd imagine.

because their twats and they are afraid of bringing in "risky" changes to dublin that "some" people might not like except making every street a one way street and no left turns and no right turns and their just twats

the clarion in limerick is only three meters shorter than liberty hall. i didnt know it was that close.

so will the dublin and cork people keep piling junk onto the rooves of their tallest building infenatum to get the highest building record or what.
