yes i know some abandonware is slighly dodgy but ... you can get all the oldies from sites such as http://www.theunderdogs.org/

i'm currently playing a few of the old SSI 5-star series, and they're still good fun

See if you can find Civ for free too and ill be happy

Once i finish my exams ill have plenty of free time, and even though i might suck ill still be willing to play any half decent war game

(plus i used to play Panzer SSI general so i have some idea how these general ones work

There are few really notible wargames as abandon ware that have good AI and passable graphics.

When my brother had an Amega years ago we did enjoy "Empire", but things have come along since then.

Perfect General is good and is Abandone ware these day, thought for the price and time of downloading decent games via a regular 56k connection buying them on budget is often better. The latter option also includes a manual (usually).

afaik you can get Civ free and legal on the net.........I just don't know where.

Hmm *very newbie-ish question* any chance ye could explain how to install any of them abdonware games then? I just keep having to unzip files and seem to be getting nowhere and i cant be bothered messing around for ages
