Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There is a classic auction in MERLIN CAR AUCTIONS on the 28 of this month. Most of the stuff is dirt but its worth a look.

How do ya check the listings for the classic auction!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭lomb

There is no listing, buy a catologue a few days b4, the vast majority of the cars are ropey junk, avoid.
when u think about it, u are never really going to buy a classic aka possible money pit at an auction, u will buy it private treaty with a full inspection, something thats impossible at an auction.
but it is a way of disposing of rustbuckets.........

anyway will be a very enjoyable day, as there are numerous cars and models there, and u can sit in them all.

Just a quick correction to Knife's post - the site says the classic auction is on the 26th...

That's a Saturday - sounds like a good afternoon out if you leave the chequebook at home... :D

yeah... I'm gonna spend 20 grand on a 8 year old nissan sunny classic, all car auctions are a mine field for the private buyer, that 500quid saved on the book price just is not worth it

500 quid thats more than ul need to get ur new purchase towed home :D:p

Ive said it before and will say it again

The only car to but at an auction is a finance repo they may have the extra 5% fee but your getting a nice minded car.(mostly)
