Does anybody remember the skit in bosco where you had some things on a shelf in a supermarket? I can't remember what it was about or what they were exactly, but I remember that they existed.

Also, those little malla guys, the tongue twisters and knock knock anymore, come with me through the magic door.

But the supermarket, I can't remember who they were ;(

Thats right, i remember the supermarket people as well, but not the name.
The potato family were the Mcspuds though!! seamus mcspub being my favorite!!
They all came alive after the lights were out and everyone had gone home for the night. Makes you wonder how much business that supermarket actually did?! The produce that came alive always seemed to be there the next day!!! ;)

I just found this site on the evils of bosco and this site was set up to counteract his evil ways! http://student.dcu.ie/~flynnr4/bosco/INDEX.HTM#home

How can such a small guy be evil!! I mean he was only 4!! what would that make him now? 24? 25? 30 even??

I also remember those two maula men that could change into whatever they wanted, one guy was blue and the other orange i think. the only thing i could find on RTE site was on their merchandise section, you can buy a bosco video!!

I still have the bosco 12" vinyl "Bosco Sings" That include such classics as:
    This is where i live
    Bosco's Theme
    Double Bubble Trouble
    I'm Painting
    Busy Bumble Bee
    Saw Saw Saw
    Ronnie the Rhino

    And Many more. :)

I'm quite proud i have kept it this long

That Bosco record is class. Have you noticed the way the theme music is different from the actual music used on the programme? It's like they put a bit of a reggae kick under it on the record. The picture on the cover is brilliant though. Check out those funky headphones!

Haha, The headphones do look like they were made back in a time the RTE props department had a budget to cover a roll of Tin Foil and what look like 2 licorise Allsorts sweets!! Quality stuff!

Its been a while since i last listened to it, i will dust off the auld record player so. ;)

I remember this one episode about the supermarket veggies where there was a big storm and it scared the sprouts so the cabbage had to go mind them, because sprouts look like baby cabbages.

Anyone remember this one story from story time that was continued day after day. It was about 2 kids who are playing in the garden when mammy loses her diamond ring. Then they go for a nap and have a dream about being on a train with a detective. The story went on for at least 6 episodes but even though I saw the start on 3 occasions they never seemed to show the end. I think the magpie did it.

    I think it was

    knock knock open wide,
see whats on the other side
    knock knock anymore
come with me through the magic door.

    Bosco was heavily repeated.

It started in 1979 and they stopped producing episodes in 1985.
    About 150 in total.

A DVD featuring say 6 episodes plus maybe a documentary would be good.
Also a Wanderly Wagon one - they do have some episodes left.

Probably won't happen though, RTE are woeful at promoting their archive shows

Been looking on the web for "Flaherty's Garden", but can't find anything. Any links anybody?

Strangely the one that stuck with me the most was when they went to the sausage factory. Strange.

    My favorite Bosco memories:

    - The Magic Ball and the power of CG at the time. Bounce the ball Philip, pretend that it is there PRETEND!!!

    - That one episode where they locked Bosco in the big box because he was naughty. Talk about traumatic!!! The male presenter even sat on the box so Bosco was trapped. I think that is why I am now claustrophobic!

    - # Someday I'll be big, someday I'll be big, someday I'll be bi--ig and then I'll be a farmer # Repeat ad infinitum.

    - #Tidy up, goodbye goodbye, put everything back in its box. See you soon, goodbye goodbye, and remember now - YOU'RE THE TOPS!#

    - The 'ahem' big chested presenter. I think her name was Suzie.

    - Bosco's TARDIS-like home. I wonder how many porno mags where stuffed under that bed.

    So many memories. :D

Ok, looking back on this now - this flaherty thing scares me. Was there a crow or something in this segment too? I'm going to have to buy the bosco dvd's now to investigate.
