OK, we all know human skin is waterproof. So how to moisturisers etc. work??

Its not exactly waterproof per say, its more a barrier which can kinda of let water in and out if necessary its called osmosis wikipedia that and you'll find your answers.

Indeed it is
Skin is not waterproof
It is a semi-permiable membrane
It uses osmosis to take in as much water as it needs
