Technically speaking I'm a child, and I found that advertisement incredibly concerning...

Apparently, ao my sister says, parents in the UK started ringing in and complaining about it. I thought it was quite funny actually. :P

Just did a bit of Googling to find out what this is all about...

I've heard the 'Crazy Frog' sound on the web a few times (as the Formuala 1 sanity test).. they're playing this on TV now? and a fluppin ring-tone?

Makes me glad I don't live in Ireland anymore.

I think you might have read that wrong Bond. None of the complaints were upheld. There's no censoring to be carried out.

Correct me if I missed something...

If your location is indeed prague, im suprised you havent heard this one yet. I first came across this one last year in Prague. Turned on MTV on the tv - think it was MTV Germany, and lo and behold that frog ad and loads of other similar ones were on every 10 minutes.. drove us crazy.. :)

The ad is now back with a black box around his "penis". I think this is a voluntary thing.

I only get two channels - both Czech. It's great.. actually quite easy finding better things to do when watching TV's no longer an option.

About time. I wouldn't mind so much if a real frog actually had a penis and balls in the first place. Glad to see my complaint got somewhere, and no I didn't sign any gay net petition that gets nowhere, I complained to ofcom who can actually do something.

Oh oh oh please let something come of this article from today's Indo:
Ringtone suppliers are 'preying' on children with teasing offers

COMPANIES supplying ringtones for mobile phones were "preying" on young people and teasing them with exploitative offers, a Labour TD claimed yesterday.

Mary Upton called for an investigation into the operation of the companies. She told the Dail she had difficulty finding out which Government department would take responsibility for where children were "inadvertently agreeing to contracts for services with ringtone providers."

Enterprise, Trade and Employment Minister Micheal Martin agreed it did merit further investigation.

Ms Upton told of a 10-year-old boy who had received a mobile phone as a present with €60 credit and who was attracted by an advertisement in a football magazine for Jamster, a provider of ringtones, mobile phone wallpaper and games.

"The boy was not aware when he joined the club he was agreeing to a contract. He was not asked his age nor did the company stipulate that a subscriber must be at least 16," she said.

Ms Upton said that Jamster is owned by the iLove company in Berlin which widely advertises Jamster and the well-known Crazy-Frog ringtone in magazines bought by children and teenagers. Most of the boy's €60 credit went on the ringtones.

"Jamster earns a great deal of its revenue from illegal contracts with children and young people who are completely unaware they have agreed to them," she said.

A Jamster representative "was unwilling to provide clarification on its pricing structure."

She was referred to the mobile provider, Vodafone, and it was unable to offer assistance, Ms Upton said.

Mr Martin said the matter raised a number of complex legal issues that needed investigation.

"The matter would appear to raise issues of both contract law and perhaps even common law in so far as it might apply to the conclusion of contracts involving minors," he said.

The minister has asked his officials to make further inquiries.
Yer right Ms. Upton! Normally I'd tell you interfering busy bodies to shut up but in this case you're right! Investigate it! Shut Jamster down! Crush it, smash it, bash it, kill it! Don't get my hopes up here for nothing...

Agreed, minors cannot enter into contracts so the money paid should be refunded. Whats needed is compulsory registration of phones with proof of age being needed, ie birth cert, drivibg licence etc.
