    Can anyone out there please provide an explantion for me as to what exactly usenet is and does. Do EsatBT provide the service etc..

    don't know if esat/bt provide newsfeed.

    they provide a stripepd down version. ie they dont carry all the channels. like the big binaries or software ones. Try googling for a NNTP server list . you will find servers to log onto for free on one of those lists

    Usenet can essentially be seen as one big message board. it was a orignally conceived as a distributed discussion "forum" (for want of a better word) and dates back to the early 80s.

    However, a large amount of interest in usenet these days is for warez (oops sorry I mean linux isos). To avail of this you firstly need a good usenet provider (you have to pay for this). Then you either need a binary newsreader (like Grabit, Newsbin Pro, etc) or a service provider that offers a web-interface.
