Any one any bad experience with Aldi/Medion PCs?

I want to try and make this post as balanced as possible!

Based on my own good experience with 2 Aldi pcs bought a couple of years ago I have recommended them to a number of work colleagues and over the past year or so 4 have bought on that recommendation. I should be on commission!! Three are very satisfied but unfortunately one guy has had truly appallilng service from them and I mean appalling.

After a fair bit of trouble here in Dubin with service etc he recently had to send off the pc to England where it was held for quite a while. Apparently they told him they were waiting on a new motherboard. Anyways it was returned in the last couple of days and lo and behold it is worse than ever. While it turned on there is no picture displaying on the monitor. I opened it up just to make sure the graphics was not loose (it wasnt) and found a mini pci card hanging loose! When he contacted them he was told that sometimes things get damaged in transit and they will arrange to have someone contact him within two working days. I just cannot believe that any reputable company would return a pc in such a state.

He is a very laid back guy and I have urged him to write a strong letter demanding a new pc or else its straight to the small claims court.

There's huge inconvenience in this for him as his wife uses the pc for work stuff and also he is paying broadband monthly and getting no value for it.

As I say I want to make thet post balanced but I was wondering if anyone had had similar bad experiences service wise?

I know loads of people with these PC's and lappies (they are great, i mean you get a 9700pro in a lappy for 1,500!)

They've never had any problems.

tbh they did fix it, the pci board must have come loose during transit, did you not just shove it back in????

I've heard of much worse service so, I wouldnt worry too much about it. Unless nobody gets back to you

It's from lidl, i'm surprised that your getting any after sales at all

If you are going to comment on a post at least have the decency to read it. Firstly I am posting about an Aldi pc not a Lidl one. My post also clearly states that I checked to see if the graphics card was loose.

If you consider returning a PC that would not produce a picture on a monitor and with a loose mini pc board as 'service' you have very strange ideas indeed as to what constitutes acceptable service.

Does it actually work now that you've reseated the PCI card or is that a separate issue?

No it is not working.

And I did not say I reseadted the PCI card I left it hanging as it is has to do with some inputs at the front of the machine and I did not want to mess in any way with the machine.

Since my first post he has had a call from a service guy in Dublin who told him that Medion had been in contact with him and that the parts he needed for the PC ''a graphics card and a processor'' were not in stock and would not be for another few days!!!!!!

wel thats his first mistake, buying a pc thats needed from a supermarket for critical stuff. i myself have bought 2 targas from lidl, a desktop and laptop. both have needed repair, the desktop was done on site next business day and the laptop needed to be shipped. the laptop took 2 months to be repaired. tbh they do great deals but if i needed a pc particulary a laptop for business, id buy a dell with 3 years next business day on site coverage.

if i was going to buy a desktop i wouldnt id build it myself, parts are available next business day for these anyway and most people have a spare slow pc lying about anyway for use in the meantime.

Sorry bout that, but lets be honest Aldi and lidl are about the same thing!

What the hell is a 'mini pc board'???!!!

All i'm saying about the service is that its an aldi pc. I doubt it came with a 5 yr warranty is all. Sure you returned it, and within a few days he has rung back and said the parts you need arnt in stock, and it'll be a few more days.

How many other companies would ring you back saying they dont have the parts???

Most companies would just leave it be, and after a couple of weeks of you ringing them and getting nothing but crap from them, it might (or might not) get your PC back!

They've realised you have a problem, and are going about fixing it AND they are keeping you informed.

Top stuff tbh, and all this coming fom aldi 'pile em high, sell em cheap'
