Just got a new laptop that was loaded with pinnacle software for burning CDs and DVDs and all. I formatted it and want to install software for burning. I have Nero that I got with my other DVDRW and I also have Pinnacle that I got with the laptop. I don't want to start filling my hd with crap so what do you suggest to use? What are the pros and cons if any?
    thanks

nero all the way, pinnacle really annoyed me, used a lot of cpu and ram time and tried to take over all my media play options,

DVD Shrink is a program that allows you to shrink your home movies, so that they fit onto a normal DVD. For example, your relatives send you over a 6GB DVD, and you want to put it onto a 4.7GB DVD, you can use DVD Shrink to do so.

I myself use Nero. Very handy, esp the way it can convert my small movies (weddings, etc) to a file that can be read by a stand-alone DVD player.

Nice, can you convert any files to play in a normal DVD player? MPGs and all that?

AVI's, anyway. I had to get svcd2dvd to encode some mpegs, tho (it doesn't burn, tho).

I haven't used Pinnacle, so I can't say much about it, but Nero is very nice.

I use Nero to encode Mpeg2, Mpeg4 and AVI to DVD. Swear by it and would choose Nero over Pinnacle every time!!
