My broadband is not working. Pages won't display, won't check e-mails, basically the internet won't work (I'm on a dail-up connection now). Everything is plugged in and the Netopia box is turned on. HELP. Don't wanna pay 11c a minute for a slow connection.

did you try restarting the modem, shut down your machine, unplug the usb router, leave it out for about 10seconds, plug it back in, restart your Pc.

If it still dont work, go into your webbrowser and connec to the modem, I think its default is 192.168.0.1 ? not sure though, and try connect manually to eircom

    How do I change them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭Kazujo

You could try pressing the reset button on the back of the modem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭ando

on your machine, goto Run, type cmd. Type in ipconfig

note the number that says default gateway.

Type the default gateway into your web browser and install eircom broadband again. You could also try the generic username and password 'eircom', 'broadband1'

Inserting my passwords takes me to eircom.net/broadband

And have you done what fixed it before? Check the DSL lights etc? Can you get to 192.168.1.254 in your browser?

Well first of all stop connecting the modem via USB, you've no idea how much hassle that causes. Connect via ethernet if possible... unless it's one of those shoddy usb only modems...

im having a problem with my eircom broadband.
when the phone rings or dialls out, the connection is dropped for a second. this is very frustrating if using something like msn messenger.

    any ideas?thanks

How have you it wired up? Is the broadband connected to a seperate socket or is it on the same as the phone? Are you using the filters provided?

    Have you a firewall?
If so turn it off as for some reason it may be blocking your modems ip address.
Go into your firewall settings if thats the case and give permission to your modems ip address.

Also do a full reset on your modem, if you cant do that plug it out , wait 10 seconds and plug it back in again, let it synch up and see what happens.
