A White Christmas

So Met Eireann is now saying dat we could have a white christmas and have issued a severe weather warning:
Met Eireann advisory of severe winter weather over the Christmas weekend Issued 1500 Wednesday 22nd December 2004 The weather will turn very cold across Ireland through Friday, Christmas Eve, and remain very cold through Christmas Day and St Stephens Day. Strong Northwest winds will bring wintry showers across the country; these will fall as hail, sleet and snow in many areas. Each weekend night will bring a sharp or severe frost. There will be a high risk of icy patches developing on the roads countrywide. Risk of significant accumulations (greater than 3cm) of snow at low levels Severe

I was just wondering do you want a white christmas or not. I personally wouldn't really like one. Everything gets screwed up when this happens. Going out and celebrating on stephens nite and new years eve usually gets cancelled when weather like this happens because der are no taxis.

Def want a white christmas, will prob get one too knowing the freezing temp where I'm from. Anyway wouldn't mind some snow in dublin either, will be back down for new years and it would make a welcome change for once. Watch out for those "Knockers" with rocks in the snowballs though. Pesky kids!

I wouldn't worry about the effect it has on taxi's, you won't get one anyway.

If it's possible to have lots of white fluffy snow all over the place but no ice... I'd be sooo happy.. but chances are it'll mean bad roads and I'd be house-bound!! It happens every 3 years .. roughly.. and this year it's due!! live on top of a hill.. can't get into town it's no fair!!!!!

Eh, Met Éireann said that today was to have a few showers, which would be dying out.

Then I look outside and ponder, and think about how I got soaked today when posting...

Oh, and was flicking around a week or so ago and one of the RTÉ weather presenters from Met Éireann said that it wouldn't be a white christmas. Granted that its difficult to judge what weather will be like in a weeks time, but still...

Nice picture .... wish i had the same view out my window at the mo.

Bookies were giving 12-1 on a white xmas , then 8-1 and now 5-2 so they seem to think the odds of one are now pretty good.

I was told today that the bookies don't pay out unless there is 1cm of snow on the airport at dublin airport on xmas morning. So you have 5k on it with a Donegal bookie and be dancing 'round in snow up to your knees in Klillybegs, but not get a cent.

Yeah it is ture that the snow has to fall in Dublin airport but as far as i know if Met Eireann say that even a few flakes fell they have to pay out.
