Recieve? as many as you like :D
But yes 250 can be sent.. used to be 500 then they upgraded the software and added a contacts list.. still 250 is plenty.. better than the 20 or something meteor give!!

That said, the O2 phonebook does make it an awful lot more usable than the Voafone portal-a lot easier to upload your phonebook and send group texts, as many as you want, not just five per send (although if you do send over the 250 you will be charged :( )

Yeah, tis a new upgrade. But onlt 30 of them can be to multiple peoples. Still. Oh, and Free text's to meteor phones is only for 1 month after topping up with 20 euro, and it's probably the same for pictures

    That said, they are dirt-cheap

im on Vodafone and I've NEVER gone over my 300 texts in a month... tbh 100 would do for me...

the 300 would be useful if you had broadband, other than that you're just paying for them a different way..

You must be a popular guy...

It's annoying being limited to 160 characters though, so usually it's just handier to use the phone tbh

My nokia 3510i phone has only 160 characters. My sisters phone is a lower model and has nearly 400 characters I think. why the hell is that??!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,948 ✭✭✭mp3guy

that's 160 characters on the 1st page, keep typing, and the 1 beside 160 with turn to a 2, meaning double the cost of the text...

Yeh it's just a guide on your 3510i. I had the same. It should say 160/1, then 149/2, 149/3 or something along those lines...

It means 160 characters on this page, then 149 or whatever it is on the next page. Each page costs 1 text message.

Your sisters does the same it just doesn't tell you how many pages you've used. It'll still cost her 2 texts for over 160 characters and so forth...

Wow I've got a weird sense of dé ja vu...

With regard to Vodafone and Meteor web texts - do they allow the sending of texts to international numbers like O2 do?

    DC.

Send them an E-Mail. When I was on Meteor I only got 30 messages, so I assume they only upgraded the accounts of new customers.

If you ask them I'd say they'll upgrade your account

Ah right, I think I'll stick with O2 for the free 250 web texts to any number inside or outside Ireland. AFAIK, Vodafone can only send webtext to Irish mobiles????

It's quite easy to run up more than 250 per month if you (like me) are involved in any kind of club or society and you use the group texts for sending out reminders of meetings & events.

I moved off Vodafone a couple of months ago cos they were cr@p.
    Meteor are MUCH cheaper.
13c per minute to all networks.
    Free voicemail
    9c/free texts
Much better customer service than Vodafone in my opinion.
    email on my phone
And surprisingly, They have better coverage where I live than Vodafone do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,842 ✭✭✭steveland?

I found when I was on Meteor I just NEVER got coverage. Nearly everywhere in college other than outside and on the first floors of most buildings I just got nothing.

I didn't get coverage downstairs in work which was teh kicker cos I had to leave my phone there and I missed all the important calls i got

    /me pretends to be important...
