I eat the mcchicken Premiere, because it's whole chicken breast. I don't like chopped and reformed chicken.

I didn't start a McDonalds thread in Food and Drink purely to bash it. I was curious what was good? Then I tried it, disliked it and decided to share my experience with the public so they would not have to endure what I did. I'm sure Manky Dees suits some people and others it doesn't. Nothing snobery about it... just don't like poisioning myself! *well.. not in that way ;)*

Maybe this has already been raised but I read somewhere, will find actual reference later, that in some Fast food palces in america the meat comes from really unsanitary meat packing plants where loads of illegeal imigrants work in sh*tey and dangerous conditions and if their fingers or more accidently get cut off they end up in the burgers....?

It was certainly the case in the abbatoir my mate used to manage in Germany.
Not sure about the fingers, though.

Do you have any idea how many calories and how much fat is in McDonald's food? It sure as feck is bad for you. Real bad.

But I do get the odd craving for a Quarterpounder with cheese :(
I was kind of just making a joke about Naughty_Girl and Nasty_Girl posting one after the other, in tandem with how (some) girls seem to see eating junk food as some kind of forbidden pleasure.

But seeing as I was arguing in favour of McDs before that: I do know how many calories and fat are in the food, I can't remember exactly now but it's roughly an average persons days worth. That in itself isn't a bad thing, calories and fat are pretty essential as long as you don't over do them. Somebody who gets a reasonable amount of excercise and has mcdonalds a few times a week will be healthier than someone who doesn't excercise ad eats nothing but health food. Granted eating nothing but McDonalds would be very bad you, but I bet it wouldn't be as bad for you as eating nothing but brussel sprouts :)

There's (generally) no reason why McDonalds food should be bad for you if you're halfway smart about how you eat anyway.

True, but that's because brussel sprouts are the food of the devil.

Anything Belgian can't be good for you.

    Oh wait, chocolate and beer!!

    Can't argue with that.

I'm willing to put eating their food down to natural selection.

Forgetting that, of all the companies in the world who deserve a right bashing, they are right up there:

    for starters (I'll skip main course) ;) : http://www.mcspotlight.org/issues/index.html

And as for the comment earlier about anti-globalisation being trendy, thank god it is. hopefully actually giving a **** about our planet and fellow human beings might be all the rage in a few years...

God I hate McDonald's with a vengence. In fact, I had a dream last night that I had only enough money to buy from McDs, and not enough money to eat anywhere else. It was a nightmare! Thankfully, I woke up just as I was about to eat.

    Ahhhh ...... :D

If you even walk past McDonald's, you can feel your arteries clogging up.

    Something about sandwiches

i remember i was cookin some burgers in mcdonalds and i threw one of them on the grill and it had wat looked like a cows tooth in it! it was disgusting.
Like i said in the other thread, i havent eaten there since i quit workin there. i rarely eat FF anymore. i just got sick of bein in the square, havin a meal when we're done shoppin, gettin home, goin straight upstairs, crappin the meal out and bein starvin 2 mins later. for the price of any* FF meal, i can guarantee i could get anything else that will keep me full for way longer.
i remember spewin one day on grafton st. i went to BK for lunch and could only afford the kids club meal. i got as far as dunnes and had to run down beside it and vomit all over the place. it was funny coz i got sick on the window at the side and every1 inside saw me i think, and there was a woman with her kid standin beside me and they ran off!!! lol.
I usually just get a sandwich/roll now for lunch and me ma's cookin is so good i never even want FF.

    * KFC usually keeps me the fullest with their tower meals.

What amuses me is when people who bitch about how bad McD's food is claim a meal from O'Brien's, or a roll from Centra is much healthier.
I'm no food nutrition guy, but I would hazardd a guess that a demi baguette with cheese and ham from Centra, or one of those triple sandwhich thingies in O'Brien's has more calories than a McDonald's meal.

The Anti globalisation trend will go the the way of the anti-fur trend. And all the new breed upper / middle class socialists will have a new enemy to demonise.

Just remember that it wasn't all that long ago that McDonalds and Coca Cola represented all that was good to folks behind the iron curtain.

If you don't want your kids to eat McDonalds fries then you have two choices, either don't bring them there or don't give them the choice between fries and salad, make it yourself.
Its difficult to bring your kids to McD and give them fries instead of a salad, when the majority of people there are having fries... not to mention the strong aroma of chips wafting around...
and Once they get a McD they start asking when can they go there again and again....

the anti-fur trend is part of the whole attitude towards consumerism and globalisation which has now just become a more general movement. people, through better education are starting to see the right and wrongs beyond the advertising and lack of balance.

advertising and lack of blance/education at work.....it wasnt so long ago that women didnt have the vote and a large percentage of europe thought this guy with the strange tash wasn't all that bad..........social evolution at work i hope.

Those french cuisine things are toxic, they are laiden with stuff not good for you :)

If I want a sandwich, I usually buy the stuff myself and make it myself, but I don't really eat rolls anymore.

I don't go to O'Brien's anymore either - I used to love the chicken & bacon tripledecker (but substituted the onion for stuffing), then after about the maybe 6th time of getting one, the chicken looked raw.

    I haven't eaten in O'Brien's since!

Wasn't there some study that said that a Big Mac has less calories than a typical ham and cheese baguette bought in a shop? That actually supports what you're saying? It wasn't for all the McD's range, if I remember, just the Big Mac but the point was that the baguettes aren't necessarily all that healthy either - just perceived as so.

Jaysus you could start a whole forum on this.

    Try:
Ruining cultures and diversity through arrogant imposition of Western/US standards on countries in the name of progress, on for a start.

how many times have you got undercooked food in McDonalds?
Three times and twice in Burger King. It once took them four attempts until they finally managed to make a quarter pounder with just cheese. And I also got £200 and a manager sacked for biting off part of his finger nail and putting it in my burger, his reason? I wouldn't let him borrow a CD from Golden Discs to play in Burger King. With morons like that running the place what do you expect? I also know dudes used to spit in the shake mix, pick burgers off the floor, fill there mouths with hot fudge then spit it into the container, all in McDonalds Oconnell Bridge.

If you're a parent, you're probably more used to using this then having it used against you but, if everybody else was throwing their kids off a cliff would you throw yours off too ? Can you not just tell them to stop asking or they'll never go again ? If they do have chips once in a while it's not going to hurt them, kids burn off fat and calories like they're going out of fashion. It's probably a good idea to teach them moderation anyway, one day they'll be out on their own and you don't want them thinking "great, now that we're free we can eat McDonalds 3 times a day"

Damn you anti-Mickey Dees hippies. You should be forcibly dressed head-to-toe in Nike gear and fed nothing but Big Macs and Coke for a year or two. That'll teach you for complaining so much...and hating freedom, of course.

Anyone ever have a triple-quarter pounder? The legends are true, they do exist.
