What is GDR RAM?

Anybody? And whats the difference between it and other types of RAM?

GDR RAM is what you get when you run the phrase "DDR RAM" through a German to English machine translator.

Its because East Germany was known as the DDR in German and GDR (German Democratic Republic) in English.

Good man. I was actually reading a german site, so that clears it all up. No wonder i couldn't find any sites that sold GDR RAM!

While i have a thread about memory open, can somebody explain to me whats the difference between single channel and dual channel memory? And if you start with single channel, can you upgrade to dual channel?

Im no expert on it, but you dont buy single channel or duel channel ram, 2 sticks of identical (timings I think) RAM, can be run in dual channel if the CPU its used with supports it, for example socket 754 dosent support dual channel, but socket 939 does, and I think p4's support it too. Im not sure what the benefits of it are, better performance I assume.
