Gerry Ryan just had Ron Jeremy on as a guest (by telephone) on his 2FM show. Ron says he wants to make a porn movie here in Ireland using some of Ireland's more famous landmarks and tourist spots as backgrounds for his sex scenes, although he admits that he'll probably have to stick to doing softer stuff here rather than anything that could be defined as 'hardcore'.

He wants to film at the Cliffs of Moher and is banking on the help of the dean of Trinity College. He also said that he may well be looking for Irish based 'actors' to take part in his production.

My question is:- what do you think of this? Ireland is far from it's "innocent" days of long ago ... but still - is this appropriate, here? Should it be allowed? Do you think an American porno "mogul" should be able to come here to make softcore (or hardcore) porn here in Ireland and against the backdrop of famous Irish landmarks? Do you think it's good or bad for Ireland? ... ... and would you (seriously) be interested in taking part?

Does anyone think that there aren't already plenty of soft and hardcore movies being made here as it is?
I doubt he'd get to use any landmarks, I mean, that would involve sex in public and the government wouldnt be happy with condoning that (because their catholic base wouldn't either). Maybe just do it in someone's house with a picture of the cliffs of mohar on the wall.

Not just that, but it's one of the only industries with a guaranteed product interest/demand. Although quite how we merge this with the "olde-worlde ireland" image that seems to attract American tourists is beyond me...

The thing about using Irish "Actors" might be a turn off. I mean Ireland is so small and you'd more than likely end up knowing a lot of the people. Imagine the conversation in a typical local:

Barman: Hi Mary, you looked great last night.
Mary: I didn't see you last night.

It is harder to get Irish chicks for any kind of porn here, soft or other wise. A lot of them are worried about someone they know seeing them. That said, there are a lot of foreign women working in strip clubs and the like here and they are more willing to do these jobs. Also, they don't have to get permission to shoot on location at a lot of the spots here, they can do it with a small enough crew on quiet days and early mornings.

Sex out doors in Ireland is great, the rain forces most people indoors and allows you get away with it in Parks and such.

Plus Ireland could really use the Porn industry at the moment. We are talking a low captail investment and high profit returns idustry that only relys on Natural (or Plastically altered ) Talent, a location and a steady cam to be produced. it can exported quite cheaply, while needing little import (except a little varity in peoples).

I'm all in favour of this, and to be sure to be sure we could even amke really cheesy ol'd Irsih porngraphy and such to appeal to the "Yank" market.
