What is the safest way to cross Dublin?

In light of recent Luas crashes, and the Wellington Quay accident in March, and the homicidal tendencies of drivers in Dublin city, I'm asking:
What mode of transport is the safest way to cross Dublin?
I'm talking about a journey from Heuston Station to Connolly Station.

In a word - Canoe - just don't fall in.
If you time it right you can go with flow of the tide.
Watch out for me, I drive a red 40 gallon drum with ESSO on the side.

If you are arriving into Heuston by train then ..
when/If the Phoenix park freight tunnel opens for passenger traffic then you should be able to make the journey without having to get change en-route.

Walk, tram or car. Fastest? Motorcycle or bicycle (bicycle you can get off and walk, bypassing the one-way system). I wouldn't class it as dangerous, but it's not the safest, and never will be.

I think this poll is a bit unnecessary!

You can NEVER make any form of transport 100% safe - accidents will always happen no matter how many precautions are in place.

However driving in Dublin could be a lot better if you (drivers) were better aware of what the environment is like around you when in charge of a vehicle, and knew the rules of the road! I think regular refresher courses (every 2 years) should be in place for all drivers holding full driving licenses to maintain the best driving standards.

A good start would be to get rid of all drivers on Provisional Licences who do not have a qualified driver with them (including the ridiculous 2nd provisional rule).

Well, it's an opinion poll of which is the safest. In my opinion it would be by bus - taking only your own safety into account.

On the radio (106?) they were saying that there was a 20% drop in road deaths in the North. The R system - limited to 45mph for a year after test- no motorway - a provicional driver can only drive with accompanied by someone who is over 21 and has full license for 3 years - sounds good.
And the kicker , they reckoned that 95% of (fatal?) collisions (they did not call them accidents because that would imply no blame) were caused by people either breaking the law or not knowing it. eg: Down here people think indicators are optional especially on roundabouts.
