setting up pool balls (8 ball pool)

    can someone please clear this up for me please, what is the proper way to set up pool balls? i searched a few pages in google and even theyseem to be slightly different so can anyone clear this up for me please?

    i have a snooker table (not full size)but i play pool on it because i dont know how to set up snooker balls. how

    That's always been the way I have played aswell

    This is the traditional setup that I was brought up with, and its probably the way you would be expected to do it in a lot of Irish pubs (known for their archaic rules sadly).
    The major flaw with it is that the 2 corner balls are the same colour (and these are the two most likely to be potted) and this often leads to a very uneven break. So the 'new setup' in gerires diagrams above you was brought in maybe 20 years ago to address this flaw.
