I presumed that because I don't have a fixed ip address on the net it'd be silly to get a personal firewall. But then I fire up ZoneAlarm out of curiousity and there's already some muppet probing me, and not in a nice way. And then there's all that spyware out there that tries to sneak personal info back to hq without telling you.

So the moral of the post is "Be safe, Be paranoid, they ARE out to get you!"

Yeah, it's only when you install a firewall, that you realise just how many strange connections are being attempted.

yup, loads of nasty little tuncs out there scanning like the bejasus. if you leave yer pc online and unattended, even if you don't have a perm ip, you need a firewall.

theres a free wee one from zonelabs which afaik is free. main thing is to ensure you don't get/have a trojan on your pc, uptodate virus scanner should sort that out.
