I think I have a trojan?

Here's the deal. I start IE5 without connecting to any page and connection is made to...

aim1.radiate.com:1975

So I blocked that address and a connection is made to...

ad2-1.aurate.com:1975

Looks like AIM only I don't have it installed and this is something recent.

Once IE is running it's trying every minute or so a connection.

found it. Aurate is a streaming advertising program. Apprantly it convertly hides and tells them when your online.

I have Go!Zilla so that's coming off (Had Go!Zilla set to not to work with IE). See if that clears it.

I had to go to thier site to get a program to remove it and it appears to be the thing that was hanging my system (causing IE to crash and not able to shutdown).

I'd like to see some clear-cut laws about spy-ware, because quite frankly it's ****ing me off.
IMO, the more people buy online, the more advertising companies will try their hand at secretive/small-print profile-building.

I think it should be made a priority to bring in laws that will at least require companies to have a clear warning that what you're installing will send X and Y data to their servers.
Covering even those smart àrse companies that like to make auto-update 'features'... don't need 'em, don't want 'em.

Grrr.

optout.exe does a good job of finding most spyware files and registry entries. And deleting them if necessary (necessary).
