It's been a month delayed but Firefox 1.0 PR is out. Download it from www.mozilla.org :)

1.0 Final should be out mid-October.

Edit: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.8 and Mozilla 1.7.3(a security update) are also out now.

That's some...eh....scarily quick work there Stark. I downloaded 0.9.3 twice this morning from that front page.....

Have to give this a go....

(Actually, I checked my files and it would seem I downloaded 0.9.3 at 9.30, and then 1.0RC at 10.15, I just didn't notice the front page had changed. I was wondering why it looked so much funkier.)

1.0 Final still has about 300 bugs or so to go before release - if we see it this year it will near x-mas day Oct is when the RCs will be released.

grr, all the extenions and themes are gone :(:)

most popular themes/extensions have been updated check for updates.

also another way to get round this is type about:config into the address bar.

find "app.extensions.version" and change it's value from .10 to .9

That's a good tip. It got my 'Add Bookmark Here' Extension back working.

Now all I have to do is get that spell checker working. It broke when I went from 0.9 to 0.9.3. Grr..

AY this the sign of good open sauce software where ye cant find the wee little buggies at all. Another way of installing extensions when they are not updated/not installing is to download them to a folder and then drag and drop them into the extensions pop-up window. The extention will install but it *may* not show up in the extension window, so you may have to go into Tools --> Options --> Extensions to change options etc..

I'll wait for the full realease.

Just got it and despite my joy at seeing Auto-detect connection settings...it can't pick up my wifi network connection and I don't have any manual settings. Pity cos I'm stuck with IE6 which can pick up the settings itself.

    Boo Hiss.

Why? It's totally stable, and at least as stable as 0.9.3 which was also a pre-release. It rates far higher than Mozilla and Internet Explorer.

I switched from netscape to IE in '95 and have used that as my main browser since early this year when trying Firefox. Tabs rule

What's with that? I don't have Thunderbird, yet it shows that I have "1 new mail" - when I click it it opens Outlook, but I don't have a new email

well i updated from 0.93 and the main difference i saw is the live bookmarks for news feeding from RSS sites.

the read mail link under Tools menu.

maybe it's that welcome to outlook mail?

A few things I noticed after I instaleld Firefox on longhorn here.

The "Find on this page" gives a toolbar on the bottom and removed the page search from the search box. Also highlights partial words. I never noticed if that was in 0.93 so correct me if I am wrong.

Some more new/modified icons. Direct default windows mail link. The Tools > Read Mail will open your default mail client/whatever you have it set to in Windows. Also the "promote firefox" under the Help menu seems new.

All they need to do is install some Mouse Guestures as default and I'll be super happy :)

    Umm... ;)

I have to say that one feature I love is the new installation for plugins like Flash or Shockwave. Letting Firefox handle the whole thing, and then run without having to restart is a work of genius... Can't find a link to suggest a few of the more esoteric unsupported ones, though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,445 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

tbh i'd rather them sticking in the installers for flash and shockwave actually come to think about it why don't they?

off topic: winters is that some php code you use for your sig?

The Plugin installer, and also the popup notification like that of Internet Explorer on SP2 is very nice. Some nice changes.

Cr3m0, its bordem and manually changed every few hours.

i think i might go off and get the new version so :)

On a side note: Am I missing something here? I thought you could get firefox to keep an eye on bookmarks to see if they were updated back in the 0.9 series. I can't find it in the new release but I don't remember if it existed or I'm just dreaming?

They did mention something of the sort but I havent noticed it in the 0.10 release.

Just check http://update.mozilla.org and find yourself an extension though. That should sort it out.
