does anyone here have those really irratating middle names your family puts onto you??

and dont u h8 when u get your leaving or junior cert registation form thing (to say wha subjects your doing) that it says your full name and everyone sees it:

In fact my parents just gave me a first and surname, that's it.
Still I collected a fair number of nicknames, some even printable.

One of the lads in school was Micheal Mary Murphy. Poor soul. Another guy was called Val (then we found it was really Valentine).

Lucky B*sterds such normal middle names have u ever tried saying mine fast i remember when i'm in school and this topic comes up everyone says their full name and when it coems to me its like i'm reciting irish poetry or something ahh. I'm not even sure wha my name means. Its meant to be illegitamete son of fionn or something

Middle names....mine is ok.My first name is very very wrong for me.It really is.It means something that is just not right for me, though my second name does me more justice. Apparently it stands for more accurate qualities(according to my plaque/scroll) than the 1st name.

I used be the only guy in my class who didn't have a middle name. bit annoying when you're thinking "bloody hell they gave me a diddlee-eye first name and not even a middle name to fall back on". In retrospect, what would I do with a middle name. No-one else in my family had a middle name either.

"And you're baptismal name?" "My what?"
"Your baptismal name." "Hah"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realise..." "No, I was baptised, not that it's any of your business, I just don't have a second name"

Mine's plain and boring... Niall David Philip O'Keeffe - I should probably renounce the 'baptismal' and 'confirmational' names though, as I'm hardly a true member of that church which conferred them on me...

However ... I do know someone with an annoying middle name - me own mum

and that name is ... PIUS (after Pope Pius VI, I believe).

Well naturally I shared this information

and it ended up sticking, to this day he is known by his pals as Joe Cam.

Where I grew up (Loughrea Co. Galway) I knew a guy called Terence McGlynn who everyone thought was cool, until they founf out his middle name..... CORNELIUS. Speaking of that name, remember that ****e cartoon that used to be on at eleven in the morning called Ulysesses??? That had a bucko by the name of Cornelius.

I reckon parents give children bad names so that they can laugh at something when the child in question gets older and starts to annoy the parents

My middle name is Joseph and my confirmation name is Patrick (I don't count that though).

You might not think that Joseph is too bad but on some forms I have to use my full name :
John Joseph O'Donnell

As a result it now says John Joe on all my college IDs and letters they address to me.

my confirmation name is Liam

Séadna is pronounced as shane-a its irish and also the modern version of setanta which was cú Chullain's original name before he was renamed by that guy who's dog died due to a hurling accident.

smallwood is an english name though, my grandad was english, from yorkshire

and ciaran is the name of my dads friend who died in a motorcycle accident

oh and i know a guy whos middle name is valentine, and he liks firstyears in secondary school

Four years ago, i was on a schools radio quiz. On my team was a gut named Seadhna, and the quiz master kept on calling him Sheena. Seadhna got very ****ed off, as you can imagine.

Davitt John Peter Waldron

Baptism and Confirmation names (but I never use them any more) - I'm grand.

It's my first name that's a problem - Davitt.

y'see, Michael Davitt is an ancestor of mine, so there's loads of Michaels and Michelles in the family, so Mam decided on something different.
It's grand, I like the name, but so many people just say David without even looking at it and that wrecks my head. A teacher in school used to call me Emmet until I spend 5 minutes bollicking him about not being able to do something as simple as get my name right.

Here's a weird one for y'all...

My Mum is Catherine Frances Forde. Everyone calls her Frankie and always has done - it's amusing to think that no one bothers with her first name at all!
She's put it to use and her "stage name" is Frankie Forde Waldron (she's a musician) - it sounds good, but it's always puzzled me. Her dad started it off by calling her Frankie when she was a baby and so everyone followed his lead.

That happen to any of you?

If you want to feel better about your name, just be glad that you’re not an Italian or German born during or just before WWII.
