Feeder are a really average band. It still amazes me how such a band could be so appealing.

Shhhhhh! They think its a different country each time! dont blow our cover or they'll stop playing here!

I suppose cos they have a large fan base. (or maybe that slane sold 80,000 odd tickets at €60 a pop.)

Actually the question "where will they play next time" arises.

Why whats wrong with Feeder--Just a day is a class song.

All i was saying was that the line-up for the slane concert was much better then the one that will be in the park

The pixies are an 80's rock band, i didn't think there was much rock/grunge music back then.I thought it was mainly all this eletronic crap.I thought it was Nirvana who started who brought back the rock music

Dear god man:eek: without the pixies there would have been no nirvana...

Yeah i read all these quotes from mcd web site saying they "influenced" Nirvana alright..But Still i never heard of them before. It was the 80's and i was a bit to "young" for the whole music thing.

Like i have never heard any radio station to play a track of theirs.:)

Tell me the name of one of their bests tracks that i should listen to

I'm the same, only started listening to them recently and had heard the name before but didn't actually know who they are. I bought their b-sides and also a recording of them at the beeb (not sure of the actual title) and I have "death to the pixies" ordered. They have a greatest hits recently released which would be a good place to start....

I'm living in ingerland so haven't heard the advert - possibly "wave of mutilation" or "manta ray" or ...

The song is good considering it was the 80's(better then i thought, bit of a beatles sound to it):)

"All 80's music was crap" is a bit of a myth (due largely to the fact that there was a lot of crap music in the 80's). The chilli peppers who are headlining this gig also made it out of the 80's with their credibility intact for instance...

Which would sort of mean you aren't really qualified to make statements like

The 80s gave us some great music. Take your pick from:

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
    Metallica - Masters Of Puppets
    AC/DC - Back In Black

And thats just what sprang to mind right now.

Tell you what laddy, here's some suggested listening, try and find as much of this on your Russian download thingy...

    Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger, Superunknown
    Alice In Chains - Dirt
Pearl Jam - Ten, Vs, Vitalogy
    Therapy? - Troublegum
    Kerbdog - On The Turn
Faith No More - The Real Thing, Angel Dust
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Metallica - Master Of Puppets, And Justice For All, Metallica
AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It, Back In Black
    REM - Everything they've released.

I also reckong you'll need to hear The Pixies, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Weezer and maybe some Neil Young. I'll leave it to others to suggest albums, since I don't really listen to them enough to give you a good idea of what to find.

When you're finished woth all that, try Fugazi, At The Drive In, Cave In, Refused, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and Sigur Ros.

And then come back and tell us the Chillis are one of the best bands of the last 20 years... ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,352 ✭✭✭funky penguin

Ahem, dont forget all the class chili pepper albums that were released in the 80's.

    Red Hot Chili Peppers.
    Uplift Mofo Party Plan.
    Freaky Styley.
    Mothers Milk

Thats the kinda stuff id love to here em play. Just once. *sigh*. A man can dream. :(

Man, the 80s was a great decade for music. Although for many bands it was image before music, there are still hoardes of great bands from that decade. You just need to open your eyes and look beyond the bands of now (like Feeder).

Ah, give the lad a break.

Try suggesting music to him, he's obviously been starved of decent tuneage. Thats what radio does to you...
