Pixies hour and a quarter that a lot more then i expected in fairness. Does any one know where exactly in the phoenix park this gig is gonna be?

    Pissflaps!

Not sure exactly...but going by the times int the pixes on longer then "hour and a quarter "

going by the times they will at least be on for 90 mins or more...Still is this gig really worth going to??

No, there'll be a good half hour between The Pixies and RHCP. Seems a decent gig, even if The Thrills aren't great and Groove Armada are on at a ridiculous hour of the day.

Though i'm happy I got my ticket for free.

Thats **** all time for the Pixies really as there will be about 30 mins of geting their kit off and the chilis on. I'd only be going to see the Pixies and it's not worth over 60e to see them play a short support slot. I mean, judging by the fantastic reaction to their decision to do a tour and the crowds they've been getting I'd say there's every chance there will be more tours to come from them anyway.... and next time as headliners I'm sure.

Still its not the best concert.Like apart from the chili's i dont think i coud be bothered going to see the rest of them.Or am i over looking the pixes??

They're possibly the most influential band of the last 20 years giving, inspiring Nirvana, Radiohead, Weezer and countless others.

Greatest hits? The whole Doolittle album.

    Or try the following:
    Debaser
    Tame
    Where Is My Mind?
    Gigantic
    Gouge Away
    Motorway To Roswell

Yeah ill have to check that album out...But i'm sorry to say this but untill recently i never heard of the pixies before..

Probably like 90% of the crowd going to that gig.

It's worth remembering also that their headlining slots are usually only an hour long. Their songs are extremely short and they don't piss around on stage. Even 45 minutes onstage leaves time for around 16 songs.

Their first headline show on the tour was 1 hour and 22 minutes long. And I imagine they'll get considerably tighter as the tour progresses. That show had 25 songs.

Yeah on the DVD I just got, they rattle through 14 songs in just under 40 minutes.

Still though, you'd think RHCP would do the decent thing and y'know... kill themselves to give the Pixies the headline slot.

Of course I did! I shall never forget the solo he performed before playing around the world. :D

I just wish they'd play a bit more of their old stuff. Although ending with "power of equality" at slane was cool. Love that song.

Yeah i think Soul to Squeeze is a class song or My Friends.Would love to hear them play either of song this summer.:D

Probably near ashtown gate, the side nearest Castleknock, I think that's where they held the Robbie Williams gig.

Flea is wholely over-rated, Keidis can't sing live for peanuts, and a vast amount of the crowd will ruin the pixies for the pixies fans.

    Pap.

Why I oughta  *Shakes fists angrily*

But ur right about the pixies. Unfortunately the majority of chili pepper fans hav heard only 2 albums (clifornication and by the way), 3 if u include the recent greatest hits.

Its a pity cos their older stuff is alot more funkier and not as mainstream. If All those lil knacker feckers who cant wait for them to play californication ever heard the likes of "Blackeyed blonde" or "Skinny Sweaty Man", they'd probably go bak to their dance music and leave the chilis all for me!!:D

Yeah, the last time they played Dublin was a bit of a joke but unfortunately that new stuff is who the band is now. I never took the chance to see them when they were less mainstream sadly...

I think the Pixies will win the crowd over though - even though most people won't have heard them before I think there will be plenty of people who go away converted.

I feel sorry for anyone going to see Groove Armada - they're brilliant but I don't hold out much hope for them opening to a big empty space and a couple of thousand Pixies and Chilis fans...

    Seriously.

I remember quite clearly when Californication came out. I bought it the day of release and everyone was going crazy over Scar Tissue. It was one of the best albums i'd bought in a long time, and pretty much everyone I knew thought it was a really strong Chilli Peppers release. Now, for some bizaare reason, everyone hates them. I pity good bands who do commercially well, they have to put up with no end of **** from people who instantly change their opinions of them.

I didn't particularly enjoy RHCP at Slane and i'm going to the gig almost entirely for The Pixies, but for **** sake, the vitriol aimed at the headliners is just ridiculous.

U didnt like slane? That line up was great.
Your the first person ive heard say that. I mean it was way better than Landsdowne Rd. That Gig SUCKED!

I was happy to see higher ground and suck my kiss on the greatest hits album (even though one is a cover). Perhaps it might convert people to their older stuff, and allow them to play more of their funky ass songs live!!! Not that i dont love their new stuff.

Actually, im really lookin forward to the gig now. I love groove armada. Thrills will be the thrills. Pixies rock. And well, i jst love the chilis. :)
