Martin Cahill AKA The General.

If ya ain't heard of him...your missing out on an unbelieveable true story, read the book by Paul Williams or watch the film, available at most xtra-visions / chartbusters etc etc.

Anyways, did you think he was a man of thje people? Or was he just a hyped up thug?

If you had ever read the book, by a respected crime journalist, you would know that the book hardly sets him up as a Robin Hood figure, but, he was still an enigma...I never stated he was good, I never stated he was bad, I just anted to know what you all thought...

i lived around the corner from him and the only thing god was that we had a special branch car posted outside our house 24/7.
he was a scumbag and liked to hammer people to the table. had one of his collegues kicked to death if i remember correctly for something stupid like disagreeing with him.

Yeh, i lived round the corner from one of his houses too. He was a gangster ffs, not a man of the people. I got home from work about 10 mins after he was shot, it was a circus. Cops hadnt a breeze how to lock off the crime scene. We found a bullet shell and had to point it out to a cop

I am indifferent to the man as I was only a 6/7/8 year old in his final few years. So, I didn't live the reality of it. I was just wondering what everybody else though.

First of all does this not belong in the Humanities board ?? I would be one to say the film is nothin like his life but Paul Williams book on him would be some what correct on his life. He lived with 2 sisters so who is to no that any one here is not doing it!vicious cunning ?? I would more say he was a smart man which is good thing well thats what I would say some may not.He made out to be a robin hood yes I think he was.But compared to any monks, Penguins, coach's he was on a different level.

Anyway - Martin Cahil was a criminal - an incredibly intelligent and devious criminal, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he was a very violent and dangerous man.

Maybe the IRA did the world a favour - who's to say, but I'm glad I never had any dealings with him!

Ah, the petty Muppetry. I have always believed language to be subjective. What ever u say is always opent to be interpreted in any way the other person likes. So, while Crash has the right to use Netspeak, WhiteLancer has the same right to be an absolute muppet and not understand.
