    Dear All,

Some of my more recent reading has been in the area of human potential. Naturally enough this covered psychic ability as well as ESP and PK (psychokinesis).

Two books I can recommend for this are:

    "Handbook of PSI Discoveries" : ISBN 0 349 12669 0
"PSI Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain" : ISBN: 0 349 12667 4

Both by: Sheila Ostrander & Lynn Schroeder

After reading these books inparticular, I was left in no doubt that humans have the potential for psychic ability. It is possible for you and me to become psychic once one devots enough time every day to developing the mind through psychic training.

I wonder if anyone here has any psychic ability, if so I would love to hear about it.

    Nick

    Hello Kennett,
Perhaps you should try to develop you talents, what do you think? See where you can take them. I'm sure, with practice, you could become very proficient.

I was thinking something similar, but my concentration is quite lacking, lol.

That's quite a major problem of mine, and why I haven't persued it further...

I certainly know what that's like. Yoga certainly helped me out there, I would recommend Hatha yoga, PM me for book suggestions if you like, I have the most marvelous yoga that you could borrow (it's out of print).
Failing that I think meditation might help but it's not easy. Perhaps take up Tai Chi?

I'll be sure to PM you for book suggestions. Thanks for the offer :)

Hmm... I'd take up Tai Chi, but I'm not sure where it is being done in relation to where I live, lol

It doesn't have to "be done" somewhere. Just start it yourself. Get good books!

Books are a start but I would certainly recommend taking classes in Tai Chi from a master. It's much harder to get motivated from a book. There will be a Ling Chi course starting in Carlow in October.

I don't think Hatha Yoga is specifically good for developing ypur psychic abilities. Raja Yoga is more suitable, especially for our time.

Couldn't agree more but Hatha yoga will help his concentration and motivation. Raja yoga is not easy for the beginner.

I started when I as 15 when I found an old yoga book that my mother bought a long time ago. I've been doing it on and off for about 9 years now.

Do you practice Hatha yoga? I would like to do more Raja yoga but I don't feel I fully ready for it yet.

I do practice hatha yoga, not Raja yoga yet, I'll have to get more informed about it first. I do meditation too, it's fun.

Would Psi powers include picking up 'vibes' from certain items/places/images etc?

tis weird, there's a whole section of second phycology dedicated to PSI. it must have some merit.
i myself believe that humans have the power to communicate telepathically but it defys science, the mind boggles!

    Check out this link: http://www.fourmilab.ch/rpkp/experiments/
Retropsychokinesis is the claimed ability of certain subjects to alter random data generated, but not examined, prior to the time the data are presented to the subject. Crazy, you say! Well, there's certainly no mechanism in mainstream physics which could permit such an effect, yet experiments conducted by a number of different researchers over the last 20 years suggest, compellingly according to some analyses, that the probability of the results obtained in such experiments being purely the result of chance is sufficiently low that they would be considered evidence of a causal mechanism in most scientific disciplines.

This is quite cool. I did the bell curve test and managed to get the line off the chart!

So if you are psychic I will be projecting an image for the next couple of hours. An object in front of me. Feel free to describe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

no you wont, because as it says in the charter this forum is for believers, so take it to skeptics, or just dont post..
and before you say it, no, I have no sense of humour.
this forum is getting way too spammy

    Who said I didn't believe?

I don't plan to disprove, more give people a chance to prove.

The definition of the paranormal is phenomenon that are beyond scientic explanation. No-one has to prove anything. This forum is for believers to discuss paranormal phenomena- as it says in the charter. They can present links and other documents to discuss. Scientific explanations are welcome of course, but not to debunk the original poster, just to present another side, but this is not skeptics and that is the fundamental difference between the forums just to be clear, and I think we are coming from the same viewpoint.
Being the devils advocate implies that you are going to disagree for arguments sake which isnt the purpose of this forum, thats all.

Doesn't mean it is beyond explanation (which for the most part I'll ignore), but certainly doesn't mean it is beyond showing it if they have it? They certainly don't have to prove it (by ignoring the post).

in response to original post. I believe we all have innate abilities and as many have mentioned it's just a matter of development.
I find in Ireland though, metaphysics and witchcraft get very muddled up.
Cognetive sciences is a respected area of study in many other countries, particularly in the states.

    http://lfr.org/csl/

might give you some idea of how these abilities are applied in a practical manner.

    best wishes

Nothing wrong with the Mulder and Skully approach is there?
Would be pretty dull if we all agreed on everything.
I say merge the Paranormal board with Skeptics and watch the sparks fly ;)

I have had certain abilities since I was a small child, they grew and are uncontrollable still but I have learned that it has been passed down from my mothers side...my mom, grandma, aunt and possibly generations before have had our abilities. Though they have been different for each of us...some shared but mine have been the strongest and most developed. I have been learning to tune into them more these past few years and have been able to do remarkable things...quite unbelieveable things actually.

I shared this information before but it hasnt been taken seriously so I do not share so freely anymore.

I am a believer because of experience, but many are non-believers because of non-experience. You cant make someone believe or understand...you can only let them think what they will and continue to live the truth.
