One I always hear mis-pronounced is "Safety"

That micky-joe Hart eejit does the "Water Safety" adds on the T.V. and he pronounces it

3/4 of the people who buy rubbish bags in my shop ask for refuge bags instead of refuse bags. I mean, I expect skangers to ask for crips rather than crisps but when a be-suited gent asks for a financial times and a refuge bag, it just boggles my mind!

Hmmm, "grammar" isn't listed.

Nor does it hammer home that "alright" isn't a real word, "on to" is not one word like "into" and so on.

Someone should really dedicate an entire page to the difference between "its" and "it's". And maybe an extra bit about not adding an apostrophe for every plural. The latter actually makes me angry at the school system and the people who sleep through it. No really, I'm not kidding. Anyone can make an error (typo or spelling) or even a series of errors - the ones that annoy me the most are where errors are repeatedly made where people think they're avoiding an error that doesn't exist (especially with "me" and "I" - I cringe every time I hear the first part of "Run To You" by Bryan Adams). Perhaps I'll write my own page.

You know what really annoys me when I'm reading? When they use 'an' instead of 'a' infront of a word beginning with 'h'. The H isn't silent you know...

That's the very one. I get a cold shiver every time I hear it (I suppose "me" wouldn't rhyme with "die" but damn him to hell anyway).

Like you say, we're all guilty of making mistakes from time to time (or even often). The "I" and "me" thing is relatively easy most of the time - if you can replace it with "we" then it's I, if you can replace it with "us" then it's "me". No need to mess around with considering whether something is a subject or an object. I don't mind people saying "me" all the time to be honest - while it's not ideal, I regard actually making the effort to avoid a grammatical mistake and then getting it totally arseways as a result as worse. I probably only use "whom" about 10% of the time where it's warranted (but that's OK as hardly anyone uses it any more anyway - again I cringe where I hear people using "whom" wrongly, presumaby because it makes them feel smarter).

Same category as "where can I buy some camera's", though this is just a mistake that (sadly many) people make. I've seen commas put in instead of apostrophes as well. No punctuation is worse than wrong punctuation. Plenty of people with reading difficulties make this mistake so I'm very forgiving of it. It's the "I" and "me" thing that really gets on my wick.

I've never (to my knowledge) criticised anyone for bad spelling - some people do have difficulty with it and that's fair enough. Text speak on the internet is plain evil though - it's bad enough on phones.

Jebus, I sound like an intolerant cnut. I'm not really, honest - I've been lucky in that my spelling and grammar have generally been good. It's not errors that gall me - it's hypercorrections. They're the devil's spawn.

No that's not the worst. The worst is mixing up "your" and "you're" when you're just not thinking about your posts

Honestly, it's really very simple and seeing it constantly wrong (and consistently with some posters) makes ixoy a tense boards user at times.

i can let most things go; but that sorta **** gets me. it's basic grammar! that and i will be a prick and correct people with to/too/two... if they fail to grasp the basics = they deserve it + a punch.

I do that a lot. Well, a lot more than I'd like to.

Comes from thinking about 4 words ahead of what I'm actually typing. I've said this before. It's like there's a litte buffer between my head and my hands, and sometimes if my brane is too busy thinking, my hands will choose the wrong spelling for a word. Funny one that.
