Does everyone get dumped at some stage in their life?

I was having a conversation with my friend about it today and he said everybody gets their hear broken by a girl/guy at some stage in their life.

    I disagree.

I have never been dumped before and even if i thought I was going to be, I would do it first instead. He said it happens to everybody at some stage or another. I am just wondering if you all have the same view too? I do not think it is the case at all.

MichaelAngelo, don't be so sure. I am late enough in life and was dumped, no warnings, no nothing, I was almost married to this person, we bought a house together, I was as happy as could be and I hadn't a clue what was going on. I don't know does everybody get dumped, I would like to hope not, I know that up till the point I was, I thought the same way as you, I thought it would never happen, that only happens in soap opera's. I thought I would see it coming and have time to prepare, I had nothing, and it was tough, it still is. Maybe it always will be.

Well, is that to say you've never been with someone else to get dumped? Or, that you were always the one doing the dumping? Or you're a dumpling?

I think it could indeed depend on those above circumstances, but on the flipside to this I've never dumped a girl, but I've certainly got the odd dump. But I think for the majority of people, it is innevitable.

That makes no sense. The universe is indifferent to amorous relations between humans!

I'd imagine the probability of getting dumped at least once is greater than the probability of never getting dumped for a human living at this time in this country but there are no hard and fast rules!

So even if you loved this girl but found out she might be considering dumping you, you'd do it first, so you wouldn't have to be dumped. Hmmmmm

A valid point Dave. Seems very immature to me. Anyway, on topic, 100% with what simu says. I'm sure there are some people that it doesnt happen to, but most people experience it at some time. Its all part of finding 'the one', and I personally would think it more strange for a person to never have been dumped.

Murphy's Law dictates that if you think it could never possibly happen to you it will definitely happen to you, you just jinxed yourself :p

Not if I loved the girl no. I have never been in love with a girl before. That is why it has never been a big deal.
Or, that you were always the one doing the dumping?

I guess so. Mind you, I have never been in a relationship longer than 4 months. And I am also 19. :p

Nah Murphy's law is like saying "I AM INVINCIBAL!!!" (boris in goldeneyes), then suddenly getting killed by gallons of liquid nitrogen falling over you. However thats going off topic.

I was more pointing to the attitude of "I'll dump her before she dumps me even though I don't want to dump her" as juvenile, and immature.

Well thats how it is. I will not let anyone have 1 up on me.

It has not happened before but think about it...if it was coming and you knew it was, why not call the shots?

As I stated it just sort of seems like the crap that 15 year olds would go about dating and the like. What age are you?

    19. I say most guys would if they knew it was going to happen. think about it. You know if you go to iraq, you will be killed so why not prevent yourself from going? Bad example but u get the point. Also, most people do not know if they are going to be dumped so it is basically pointless even stating it. I was just saying If I happened to know, then I would...obviously.

Until you do, you will never understand...that simple really.

You will never know unless you know.

    The logic goes thusly:
Your future is not certain. If you are in love with someone - there is ALWAYS the chance that your heart will be broken. If you are not in love with someone - there is ALWAYS the chance that you will be in the future.

If you have never had your heart broken then there is ALWAYS the chance that you will have your heart broken, or be dumped. The only time you will find out yay or nay is when you die. Which is probably when you won't realise - because you will be dead.

Therefore you will never know, unless you know now.

Because some people are mature and secure enough to face problems and not run away from them.

So you say you dump girls before they dump you. Does this happen more than you just getting bored and dumping them for your own reasons? Because the way it sounds from your comments so far, you're avoiding problems in relationships. Instead of working through them you're just jumping out of it. Sounds like if you ever do get into something serious and you find she's going to dump you, you won't know what to do. You also won't know WHY she's going to dump you because it may be the same reason so many other women were going to - but you didn't hang about long enough to check.

Might be interesting to find out how that works out for ya. Get back to us when it happens.

Everything started recently actually....in the last 2 weeks (it never happen to me before to get so lucky in such a short period!), i will have a few dates and once i have decided which one is "the one" i will forget about the others....mmm, should i maybe keep a backup just in case?
    :p

anyway, so far in my life i have been dumped so many times that is time for me to become a "bad guy" too

Well, you can trust some people, but I agree they are close to extinction...

The thing about relationships is you have to have faith and risk getting heart broken, otherwise you're going to miss out on a big part of life.

Meeting new people and breaking up is just a part of life...

I've had some psycho ex's as well as some lovely ones, but the psychos haven't put me off women or relationships. I accept the bad with the good.

Apparently they dont take it well if they find out about each other.

Heh, its your life, but i'd recommend treading carefully, especially with 4! =)

How would you know you were going to be dumped...psychic powers, what if you jumped the gun and dumped her and she had no intentions of dumping you (you misread signals) - you could be dumping the love of your life
    just a thought

men at the best of times have a hard time reading womens minds so.......

How many of you have seen 2 persons getting together at the age of 20 and being still together after 10 years? Personally NONE..... and I think this is very sad ..... it looks like sooner or later everything come to an end....

Nowadays it is much easier to GET somebody compared to 50 years ago, but it is much more difficult to KEEP that somebody.....
