Heading over to Westport on Thursday for a couple of nights - and was just wondering can anyone recommend any good pubs (live music pref.) and places to eat out?

    Tanks :)

Can't recommend restaurants, don't eat out there too often, but as for pubs you should definitely head to Matt Molloys for a couple of pints. If you ask there people will advise you on what the best thing to do for music is - there'll probably be some on in there as well as in quite a few other places.

Have a walk down Bridge St. (the main street in the town) and try a couple of the pubs. Matts is about a 1/3 of the way from the top of the hill (on the left as you come down).

Only just saw this thread today (Thursday) so it's probably too late. Sorry about that.

    As for the town itself:-

    Pubs:-

Definitely try Matt Molloys, should be music going on there, if not, as Trojan said; "ask" People are usually friendly and will point you in the right direction.

Dunnings is on The Octagon (as you're going up Bridge Street, go right, it's on the top of James Street on the left) Good live music in there on a Thursday night.

Or you could try the front bar of the Castlecourt Hotel, might wanna check if there is music there or not beforehand.

Failing any of those, try The West, The Jester, O'Malley's, Blousers. Or for a nice quiet pint, Toby's over on the Fairgreen (As your going from Mill Street up to the Train Station)

    Food:-

Out the Quay (about a mile-ish outside the town) there is a place called The Helm, not sure if you have to book before hand or anything, but really good food.

In town itself, try Sol-Rio or have a look around at some of the places to eat on Bridge Street.

    Clubs:-

Pretty much, narrows down to two places. The Castle (Night-club in the Castlecourt Hotel) or Oscars (On Mill Street Beside The Westport Inn) used to be called Wits.

Haven't been in either in quite a while so can't really say which one is better than the other.

Hope that's some help. Have a nice time and let us know where you went, what you thought. :)
