Tv Interference Source - how to find

I live in a small apartment block with a tall aerial on top.
The signal is fed via a booster to about 6 TVs. This worked fine for years.

Over the past few weeks, all of us in the block have been getting severe interference which blocks out most of the 8 channels - even RTE1.

Even on those that can still be seen, it affects them.
Basically, it looks like an 'embossed' band moving slowly down the screen. Less often it appears as white zig-zag lines over all the screen. Occasionally the interference disappears completely and the TV works as normal.

Has anyone any idea of
(a) What could cause this ?
(b) How to go about tracking down the source or eliminating the interference ?

It could well be a problem with your booster. Did you try bypassing it and connecting the aerial fed directly to one TV - do you still have the interference?

Sounds like a two way radio system (maybe a taxi firm, police station or CB enthusiast) nearby is overloading your booster

As Antenna says try taking the booster out of circuit and feeding the aerial directly to one of the tv sets and see if theres still a problem

If not then you need to replace the booster and/or get a filter for it.

If the problem persists without the booster and is affecting everyones reception then you need to contact RTE Reception (1850) 584584
