As last nights encounter in pit fade away in distant memory a new day dawns on mort and you count your lucky stars that your still alive to see it. You look out of your window down onto the busy streets of uptown mort people pack its streets the hustle and bustle of everyday life passing before your eyes. People running around like ants trying to do an honest days work on a dishonest planet.

The early morning light streams into your apartment lighting up the darkest corners of your apartment. The rain clouds already dark and brooding overhead a steady stream of light rain falls slowly but surely from the sky the tap tap tapping noise of the rain drops splashing off the window resonates inside your head
you crunch down on a few more pain killers the wounds from your previous BPN still not fully healed there are scars already and you imagine you will see many more before you retire from SLA as an operative.

As you eat breakfast your personal Organizer bleeps reminding you that you have agreed to meet the rest of your squad at 1pm at the slayers crib to decide on your next BPN you should undertake, as you get dressed and prepare for another day at the office you look out the window once more as the city of mort stretches out before you eyes "Humph" you think to yourself thats some office

as you head out the door to begin a new day of work.........

Gaunt groaned as he rolled off his sleeping mat and onto the cold hard floor. Sometimes there was no other way of getting out of bed in the morning. He streched, trying to work the stiffness out of aching joints and hearing clicks and pops as bones were forced back into some semblence of a skeleton. Ideally he would have had some more time to recover but the team had to keep the ball rolling. Too much depended on reputation in this line of work.

The kinks in his muscles worked out he began to dress for the occaision, slowly dragging on his clothes ... one kevlar sock after the other.

Squall moves with fluid motion, the power Katana in his hands a blur of motion. The apartment was silent except for the steady tap tap tap of the rain against the window and the sound of the blade slicing the air. Squalls personal organiser bleeped a message pulling him out of his trance.

    11am........hede been training for hours.

Moving to the bedroom he checks his gear, needlessly, it was well maintained as always.

He strapped on his body armour with a fluidity of one born into combat. Grabbing his weapons and securing them in their various holsters he grabs his Leather Jacket, grabs his keys, hops on his SLA Bike, revs the engine and tears off in a flurry of rain drops.

Tali woke with the blaring on an alram, she reached out and hammers the heel of her hand down where the aralm should be in a sleep fogged reflex. Her hand came down and smash, something gave, broke and there was warm liquid on her hand and suddenlny the screeching of " Bitch bitch, ooooooooohhhhhhh my fething node you broke it "

She Yawns wildey and reaches for her FEN and slightly opening one eye shoot the Alarm clock shutting it up.
Yawning again she swing the FEN arround to the now silent male cringing beside her bed about 10inches from the now defunct alarm. " I'm going to have a shower dont be here when I'm done. " She streches and heads to the bathroom with her FENS.

She steps into the shower thinking 'only a broken nose I must have been more tired then I tought if that is all he suffered, at least I didnt wake beside a corpse this time. '

She showers and then head back to the main room of the apartment the door is ajar,' how rude he didnt shut it. ' She slams it and flicks on the wall screen telling the TVeee to search for news feed featuring hot pursiut in the down town area, she nods and the screen splits into five the sound muted waitng for her to pick one.

she watches as she fixes and consumes a caffine protein vit shake, wanting to get a beed on what was top of the ratings and figuring out whats currently all the rage for TVeee zombies to watch.

she glances at the other chronometer on the wall and sees that it is now 2 pm. finishing her shake she leaves the apartment with the TVee still running.

outside her sleek black set o'wheels wait her. ahh the joys of auto polit. she recs the enigne and heads for the meet with the rest of the group half way there she remembers to turn on her comms, well she had forgotten last night and the open mike to the rest of the group was fun for a while.

Tank eyes flutter open on the dawn of a new day, mussles still sore bones creak as he gets out of bed. extending his jaws wide yawing and stretching limbs to there full tank belches *BURP* the noise echoe's around the room. S'cuese me. shouldnt have had all that free drink last night, stormers never get a headache thanks to there advanced metabolic rate. dressing quickly and rading the kitchen for a quick bite to eat before heading out the door,

Dressing and Arming up quickly tank readies himself for another day on the frontlines defending SLA from what ever dregs want to wreak havoc on mort. Not surprisingly there's nothing in the fridge so tank heads out early for some take out food in the uptown strip of shops and resterants.

once breakfast is over tank heads in the direction of the pit eager to begin a new mission and prove to SLA that he is a worth while investment.

    Game turn 1

    - - - - - -

As Early morning fades away into a dull rainy afternoon, and for the 2nd time in as many weeks the operatives now face the daunting task of going back to the BPN hall to pick up another assignment. throughout most of the early morning and late afternoon various members of the squad arrive at the slayers crib which is situated in uptown mort, Tali being the last to arrive not even fashionably late just plain old late but the look on her face suggests that she doesn't really care and if someone in the squad wants to make an issue of it they better make on where she wont be able to channel any flux!

The crib itself is located in the lush surrounding's of uptown. Sky scrapers tower up into the clouds on every side of you, the streets are wide and trash free. you can actually walk around uptown without the feeling that at any minute your life could be taken from you. Everything here has a crisp clean look as Uptown is a district purely devoted to business, here away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life on mort SLA's economy can thrive, only operatives and high level company employee's are allowed into uptown as there are only business and corporate offices here in uptown no residential estates at all.

Slayers crib is the acception to the rule of uptown the building has a harsh unforgiving look to in a dull grey washed out colour that separates it from the rest of the buildings in downtown plus slayers crib only has 20 stories its quite a small building compared so some of the more expensive corporate buildings that surround it. as your squad checks in you are well used to the procedure by now you check in at the front desk and hand over your weapons and begin the long haul and stand in line, 3 hours pass and you finally reach the registration desk waves of frustration and tension emanate from you as you reach the unfriendly and rather abrupt human female at the reception she takes your details registers your squad number and allows you admittance into que for the BPN halls. another 4 hours pass and you finally reach the BPN halls
after about a dozen ciggs and many many cups of mother jabubu's extra strong caffeine enriched coffee you reach the BPN halls and like the last time you remember the place is chaos in its purest form! of the many many BPN's that you go for you are unsuccessful at getting some of the classier one's the one's that you have left are:

    ___________________________________
    BPN 1:

    Colour [Blue]

So there your options any takers?? vote now on the COMS channel for your choice unless you TL wants to go on one in particular!

remember if you have ANY questions about payor details of a BPN you want to go on ask them BEFORE you accept as once you accept the mission there is NO turning back your rep's will be severely damaged if you pull out of a BPN once you accept and you'd only get blue BPN's from a long long time to come.

    Better late than never.....

Hardly a minute passed in Zmek's neighbourhood when you would not hear a scream, a shout, some cry of anguish as the distress in some creature's life leaked out to verbalise itself and punctuate the sounds of the city, but this scream was different. Thin, high, short to the point where if you weren't concentrating you might even question whether you'd heard it at all.

But who would care anyway? Here, where life is worthless the cries of the fallen fade into the ambience of daily life and pass by the ears of those intent on staying alive without the vaguest registration.

Stark blue lines of shadow cast by tightly tilted window blinds threw themselves across the bare floor in Zmek's apartment, picking out the shape of the squatting brain waster in stacatto lines like a half finished puzzle. His eyes were wide and bloodshot and sweat trickled cold on his skin despite the chill of the air conditioner blowing an icey draft across the floor.

The flesh of his right arm was exposed, pale skin, tightly knotted muscle. Hissing breath broke the silence punctuated by the spatter sound of dark liquid hitting the floor.

The "ping" of the personal organisor came as no surprise, Zmek was waiting for it like a signal that marked the end of a life and the beginning of another, waiting and focussing.

Once the ping subsided he rose slowly, staring at the wall opposite where he had squatted, shrouded in darkness where the rays of light from the window blind could not touch. He did not need to see what was there. Every detail was fixed in his mind's eye, every detail he had traced with his mind the night before as, one by one, he had first printed off, then tacked the pictures of each of his squad mates to the bare apartment wall.

The muttered words, the gestures he had used, the force with which he drove in the tacks lingered in his memory, dark, darker than the night he had waited through, darker than the spots of blood that patterned the floor of the apartment now.

"I honour thee, dark Lord, with this offering. Deliver forth thine power through this servant that I may strike down those that stand in the path of Your Way...."

Barely a whisper, the words hissed in the emptyness of the starkly furnished apartment and faded into nothingness.

The chilled air swirled to scatter particles of dust as the door to the apartment slammed, leaving only emptiness, silence and the dimly visible pictures of the sqaud members pinned to the wall.

    Game Turn 1a

    - - - - -

As you rush to the regestration desk you just about manage to secure the Jade BPN ahead of 2 other newbie squads grinning manically at them you regester the BPN for your own as the other squads melt back into the crowded rooms of the BPN halls you hear there muted muttered complaints about not being fair the more experienced squads getting the better BPN's.

You are told at the regestration desk that normally a fax is sent to your address with the details of the BPN however you are told that you will recieve a print out now of the details of the PBN as this is a high priority mission, the details are handed to you printed out and are as follows:

    - - - - - - - - - -
    Colour: Jade
    SCL increase: .4
    Dept: Dark Lament.
    Packages: Any/Strike Squad, Ebon preferred.
    Monitor: 3rd Eye.
    Bonus: 400c/Operative.
BPN: Recover material stolen from Dark Lament by possible DarkNight Interceptors during recent raid on Mort Central. Contact Mr Venture at the Dept Science Friction for further information at your earliest convienence.

    - - - - - - - - - -

You all make you way slowly outside the slayers crib past all the other operatives still scurring around like blind rats in a maze. what you are wondering is why a suit from uptown wants to see you up at science friction. You've all herd of science friction before from one source or another, its a pretty scary place located on the upper east side of mort central. the dept is owned by dark lament (for those of you that dont know dark lament is part of the company that deals with ALL ebon related matters) and usually has nothing to do with anyone that is not connected some way with ebb. this feels like its going to be another "interesting" mission

"time to go talk to the suit" you think to yourself maybe you might even be able to get more money out of the bloodsucker if you bargin with him....

Pushing his way back out of the crib, with considerable outcrys by many of the smaller in the crowd, Squall finally gets out to the relatively fresh air of uptown mort.

Reading the printout of the mission again Squall hops on his SLA bike taps his com bead

    ----> Coms Channel <

revving the engine Squall takes off towards science friction.

Tank easily pushes he way through the crowded corridors of the crib, the cries and hushed curses of the patrons of the crib falling on deaf ears. lost in his own thoughts tank says he farewells to the squad and will rendouz's with them at dark lament HQ in uptown mort.

Still a little shaken from the last mission tank decides to breeze around on his bike for a while trying to ease off some of the anxiety, stopping breifly at a pizza place, tank enters and eats a super size 48" super hot chilli pepper pizza, and then continues on his journey only stopping 3 more times at fast foods take aways for food.

After his light breakfast tank head in the direction of uptown mort and the mission ahead with a screech of his motor bike tank skid marks the path around him with a smell of burning rubber in the air tank roars off to dark lament.

Tali'Einea sit and smoke and thinks and smokes some more.

She watches the Mill of SLA ops buzzing arround her like so many bees in a hive. She's read about such things in one of the many books her mother made her read.

One or two would draw her notice, but after a 60 second glance fail to impress or stand out that much. the team was now lacking somthing that Spirit had decided to leave them. Ok not that the Ebon had been that vocal but she had held her end up when she was needed,
Tali tought about the state she had been in when she 'Ported back from the vacum with the package, intresting but it could have all gone a lot worse.

Seemed tht the squad could be running low on PMD and with thier numbers down there would be greater injuries and she'd be left to holding flux for healing. She scan the crowds again her eye drawn to the ebons amounst them.

Zmek said little more during the selection of the BPN and the voting of the sqad leader, instead he stood silently by watching impassively from within the anonymous shelter of his wrap around mirror shades.

When the others left the crib and headed for the renezvous Zmek did likewise, without a word, without so much as a twitch of expression. The blustery breeze outside the crib made bat-wings with his long dark coat, revealling neatly packed utility belt, weapons holstered and camera in quick release clip. Nothing in Zmek's demeaner revealed his thoughts, it was as if he were competely detached from the activity of the squad, a body on auto-pilot. Watching. Always watching.

The roar of the Brain Waster's SLA bike reverberated from shiney glass building facades as he burst from the parking area and headed for Science Friction.

Those who watch also wait...and everything comes to those who wait....

    [Game turn 1b]

Over the next hours or so various members of the squad make there way towards uptown mort and the fortress that is dark lament. As you pass through the security of the wallgate that separates uptown from central it reminds you of how segregated dark lament is from the rest of SLA industries little or nothing is known of the dark sinister dept within SLA save for those who work for dark lament and Mr Slayer himself. You snap out of your day dreaming by one of the security guards who gives you the all clear and you move on through to the next section of tunnel within the 200 foot thick wall.

As you emerge from the security gate and are greeted by 2 mech's (they look like the robots from the matrix revolutions) with massive thresher cannon's that could tear a building apart they watch you impassively as you move outwards and on into central mort. As you pull into the grounds of dark Lament you are stopped by a guard on the gates (he's wearing a deathsuit under his cloak so you reckon not to mess with him) on the walled parameter of dark lament shiver units eye you with suspicion huger reaper cannons at 100M intervals and the walls themselves seem to radiate a power themselves. Its not until later that you realise that there were glyph's of power engraved into the walls. you all arrive at the central meeting area but Tali is no where in sight you all make it within an hr of each other however Tali is still not here and she's the one that supposed to be meeting Mr Venture before you can accept the BPN,

with a silent curse you try to hail Tali on the COMS channel and find out what's going on.....

Sent PM to Tali/Ghost in relation to this game turn:

    [Game turn 1b]:

Tali is still in the Slayers crib watching the world go by eyeing up potential PMD's for the squad, after about 30 mins she catches sight of a human against a wall, he's Cautiously watching people from the room keeping to the corners/shadowed parts of the room, as you watch him he seems to be moving around sizing everything up and after 10 mins more watching him you now realize that he's noticed you watching him so your now looking at each other from accorss the room who makes the first move is up to you........

    [End of Turn]

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

Tali switches off her comms and grins.
Then holding eye contact with the human she gracefully streches out of her chair and walk directly to him. She removes her shades, grinning all the while
as the crowds of SLA suddenly note she is a Waster and get out of her way.

She stops 4 and 1/2 foot from the Human ( just out of touching range unless he shifts a hip or sholder from the wall) who has such a pretty scar running from his forhead and down his left check.

His shorn near white hair and plae skin give him a clean well scrubbed look but that coupled with the grace of his oh so casual at ease stance murmers of
hardcore military training, no mere muscled grunt but one who has learned to Think maybe truley think as much as mere humans can.

He raises his gaze to meet Tali's white in white eyes with steadily.

Tali 's grin fades in a smiles as she tilts her head to the left a lil and soul gazes into the non matching green eyes before her. Ah there it was hanging on by a thread held with near crushing will power.

    " You 'll do. "

She turn on her heel, comfortible enough giving him her back and heads out the building to wards the car.

Geist lightly pushed him self off the wall, smiling a wain smile about the Brainwaster. If he recalled correctly, she was Tali. Being an interrogator one had to remember names and faces.

"This ought to be interesting," he thought to himself. She'd seemed pleased about his ablity to hold her gaze, and one didn't need to feel the ebb to sense her potential.

His long lite legs, kept him sliently abreast and behind of the Brainwaster, up-until the car, where he open the door for her and got in beside her. He enjoyed the quick ride towards the looming towers.

Tali'einea spins the Dodge off the speedway and into the start of the masssive parking plex that is the outskirts of Dark Lament.

    [Game turn 2]

After a further 40 mins wait outside the dark lament facility (yes your waiting in the car park as embarrassing as it is) finally Tali's car pulls up and screeches to a halt next to your squad. Out steps Tali looking smugly in your direction [this bit would be in slow mo] and all of a sudden the passenger side door opens and out steps A HUMAN!! long trench coat flapping in the wind, your not sure who this guy or why he came here with Tali he appears to be flanking Tali as they approaches you. [at this point feel free to WHAA?? WHHOO?? WHHYYY?? to your hearts content on the COMS channel] As Tali arrives you enter the main double doors to the dark lament facility passing several of cloak division darkfinders on your way.

Once inside the huge 70 storey building its like stepping into another world the main reception is made entirely of marble the floor, walls and ceiling. Various tables piled high with magazines dot the room with comfy leather chairs the whole place smells of money, in the centre of the room is a HUGE crystal fountain with glowing glyph symbol's carved into the fountain its a masterpiece that almost takes your breath away its gives off its own inner light like there was a sun at the centre of it. there are glowing glyph's of power engraved everywhere on every wall and corridor and it seems like the light in the building is a dull pale light that stretches off into infinity making hard to look into the distance without you getting dizzy. (the brain wasters will note that from the second you walked into the building all your flux was zapped you now have 0 flux) As you cross the marble floor your boots make an audible clicking noise that seems to echo across the room there are a few ebon's scurrying back and forth some seem to be operatives other's seem to work here absolutely no one pays you any heed, you reach the reception you give your names and are told that Mr Venture will see you now. you are told his office number and are pointed to an elevator and told he's on the 66th floor room 6 (sorry couldn't resist).

You proceed to his office and as you enter he is sitting behind a desk sorting through some paper work. From your first impressions Mr Venture appears to be early middle aged ebon with grey hair and a streak of silver running down the middle he is short even for an ebon and wears a pair of glasses which makes his look more like an accountant than head of a department, His voice sounds like a low growl but shows no emotion or feeling of any kind. His skin looks as if it has been very recently burned slightly so it is very pink and tender looking. He wears a red suit with a white shirt underneath "aahh the operative's i sent for please come in do take a seat" as you sit down he begins to explain the problem:

"Two days ago a raid took place on this building by Darknight Interceptors. They had planned it well and caused sufficient diversion for their crime to go nearly unnoticed. If not for certain Necanthropes they would have gotten away scot free. We have ascertained from those of the squad that did not escape that the subject of their intrusion was to procure a number of our Velshydrah or Glyph Armour. Only one of the Darknight Interceptors was able to escape and took a suit with him as he fled, The suit of armour is highly sophisticated and has operating parameters far in excess of any of Power Projects models. If the Interceptor has ascertained how to operate the armour, he will be a most formidable foe."

"The model stolen was a standard model, Be aware that this armour has a number of Ebb Glyph's inscribed into it to make it a more efficient piece of equipment, one of which is a Chameleon Illumination Glyph that makes it invisible to unassisted vision. This however is one of the more complicated Glyph's which requires instruction for use but it is possible that the Interceptor has figured out how to operate this Glyph. We are not particularly concerned with retrieving the Velshydrah in perfect order, we would rather it didn't fall into the hands of those of my race who have defected to the Darknight. If you have to fire upon the suit, use of HESH or HEAP rounds is advised as no SLA produced round with the exception of the 17mm calibre or Hi-Veloc ammo can penetrate the suit. You may requisition ammo and weapons from the Department and I shall sign for them as I see fit."

"what i require you to do is to find this Darknight interceptor and retrieve the missing glyph armour. As i said before if you have to destroy the armour so be it i would rather that than have it fall into Darknight hands, also as a secondary mission the Darknight interceptor had help in evading capture there are rumours of a Darknight base somewhere on MORT if you could capture this ebon alive and somehow (ahem) extract the information from him as to where this base is there will be and extra 100 credit bonus for each of you." he pauses for a moment "i assume you don't have a problem with extracting information from subjects now do you? I'd hate to have to hand this BPN over to cloak as we here at dark lament prefer to keep our problems within the family if you get my meaning ..... what do you say ladies and gentleman?"

    [end of turn]

    - - - - - - - - -

I'll draft up a list of ammo and weapons that you can requisition from dark lament for tomorrow, of course once your finished the mission you'll have to return the weapons and non expended ammo (as there requisitioned!!)

Zmek leaned against his SLA bike in silence while the squad awaited the arrival of Tali, the growing agitation of the others in these strange surroundings was amusement enough for now and Tali would be here when she was here.

When she did finally arrive, displaying her new found plaything like a poodle on a string Zmek showed no particular reaction, though behind the mirror shades his eyes narrowed a little at the sight of the human.

His breath caught in his throat with a choking sound as he felt the flux drained from him, so intrusive the feeling of having something so personal ripped from the body without warning. He unconsciously ran a hand across his belt to feel the comforting solidness of the charges he carried. Soothing.

With an expression familiar of one coming too close to a bad smell Zmek watched the many ebons scurry here and there in the reception area while he waited for the others to find where they were to go. Walking briskly towards the elevator he glanced at the fountain with its inner light and scowled. "Ebon arty farty nonsense supposed to represent..." he made quote marks in the air "The Inner Light or some such rubbish I suppose....I wonder if they let you pee in it..."

In Venture's office Zmek looks around quickly taking in the decor before giving the ebon at the desk a long scowl, not a typically nasty scowl, just the scowl he reserved for the many senior ebons he'd encountered during his rise through the academy. Not begudging respect. Just begudging.

He slowly trudged to a deep leather chair with its back to the wall with clear sight both of the ebon at the desk and the door through which they had entered and slouched into the soft upholstry.

Resting elbows on the arms of the chair he made a high arch with intertwined fingers before his face, peered out from behind blank mirror shades and listened in silence.

With out moving, or looking the red clad suit.
*In a horrible skin crawling whisper, laced with intent*

"Mr Venture, due to the risk involed, and the delicacy of the situation, maybe a bonus fee could be offered for the capture of the Ebon and the extraction of vital information and a seperate fee for the return of the armour"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,236 ✭✭✭AL][EN

Mr Venture pauses a moment to consider you request

(out with the dice and start rolling),

after a few moments he says:

"The original deal was for 400c per Operative to complete the mission. I've already offered an extra 100 credits for the information on the Darknight base, that's 500 credits for a mission like this is more than worth while, however seeing as like most of your kind your are hungry for money and power i'll make you a deal, the above is the agreement that was stated if you accept the mission if your feeling brave enough i'll give you an extra 200 credits and let you keep one of the weapons you requisitioned from dark lament if you destroy the dark night base once you get its location? that's 700 Credits and you keep a weapon given to by dark lament! - what do you say to that, do we have a deal?"

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Out of the game:
(to be honest im being really really REALLY generous here but since you got underpaid for your last mission im making up for it now) of course your going to have to work for your credits!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Squall

*Squall speaks quietly to the squad*

"This is a squad decision but it seems like a good deal to me. I say we accept"

Zmek chuckles under his breath, quietly but obvious in the stillness of the plushly furnished office. The sound embodies the waster's bitter contempt, not only for the ebon having somehow found his way into a position so highly ranked, not just because it would take an ebon to actually go out and purchase such a hideous red suit and have the gaul to wear it in public, not just because the creature had buckled to the demands of the human so quickly.....but also for the fact that the human had asked in the first place. A bold enough move that had, admittedly, paid off, but it confirmed for Zmek the petty motivations of the human race, so easily pleased with baubles and trinkets, so easily bought with a few credits.

Geist grinned internally as he felt the Brainwaster tense up, his plan had worked.

tank agree's it seems a reasonable offer 700 credits for a few days work,

tank turns to mr venture and says:

"however what concerns me is that your sending 7 operatives into the heart of MORT city armed with enough firepower to level a city block in seconds are you expecting much resistance from this ebon and his super duper suit?"

"sure the pay is fanastic and i know for a fact were going to need all this stuff when we find out where this dark night terror base but do you really expect 7 operatives to take down a whole base?"

tank pauses for a second and remember's now why stomers aren't squad leaders as they usually just come out and say what there thinking trying to change the subject quickly he says

"erm sorry mr venture it was only an obversation we'll take down the base do you have any idea where he's heading or any leads at this time?"

Tali Strolls through the foyer of the building, it was roughly what she had expected at least there were no pastoral scenes.

Something just did not seem right at all when she enter the office marked as 6th on the floor 66th, my she thought how Droll but 6 is not as much fun as 7 and they didn’t build the building quite high enough.

She looked the ebon in its red suit and it just did not sit quite right.
That shade of red an ebon of such supposed high rank would not wear such and odd shade which was far from flattering nor such garb that was so visually unpleasing and so unflattering, as to pick out unpleasant pigments on their ski…………………………….

Tali halts mentally completely, but keeps up her perusal of the room.

Right so theses types of games it.

She listens to Casper quietly and assertively requests more for the job and watches as
What they have to do for the money grow to fairly big parameters.

Track find the guy with the suit,
Get the suit or destroy it,
    Get the information,
Follow up on it AND then wipe out a Dark Knight base of operations.

Clack, Clack Clack goes her internal abacus.

She smiles as Tank opens his mouth out past all those teeth come a lot of sense.

“ Yes WE were sent for not just any Squad us who happened to blow up a space station, with a team who has two oddly gifted brain wasters one of which for I know it is know who dealt with the package even teleporting with it. A Flux reactant package. Which would have been conceived and funded from here in Dark Lament”

She turns from looking at the rain on the window.

“ Promising credits is all fine and grand but the are only delivered upon completion, and giving weapons and gear is nice too even more so when they can be stripped from our dead hands.

There is not near enough information here on the table, and we will need means to see the suit with the Chameleon Illumination Glyph is activated, but even that is jumping the gun.

Necanthropes had to try stopping the squad and you where not successful for one of them escaped. So you are sending us with our minuscule SCL to mop up after you, or to achieve something the Necanthropes have no interested in doing themselves but will hover over us waiting to step in and trying to second guess us.

Or better yet they want something FUN to test the suit against and gather Data in the field with us going full out against it. “

She watches Mr. Venture reaction to her, and turns to the rest of the squad,
“Mr. Venture is not the only Thing here is not what it seems and the increase in the offer was to pat, too easy.”

She turns and addresses the Necanthrope at the other side of the desk,
“ Please enough of the charade, if you truly are being up front with us
You will need the Caliber of Ops that can face you as you are.”

Tali, stand looking Mr. Venture in the eyes, arms folded, waiting.

Gaunt stopped breathing. His hands seized up and gripped the chair as he stared at the first Necanthorpe he had ever seen. (Admitidly it didn't seem particularly extraordinary which, he realized, gave the terror it inspired in him a whole new, and even more menacing, dimension.)

Strangely the next conscious thought was, "I guess this is what living in "Intersesting times" was all about."
