I see the family are harassing pregnant women now....

Dont hold your breath re the Teaching Council. They are a good example of self regulation = no regulation. You'd need to do something a lot worse than shouting at a Principal to be struck off.

i saw that. Accosting MEP Maria Walsh as she walked in the street. Walsh repeated asked them to stop recording her, which of course the ignored. Martina was verbally challenging her, and as usual not in a nice manner, I dont know which Burke was behind the camera.

One day someone will grab that camera / phone, smash it to bits, and once the recording device is out of action, they'll give those Burkes a good slap.

Just watched it. A disgusting family. The mother would be locked up permanently if it were another country.

Anyone still backing them on FB or elsewhere is a moron.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91 ✭✭757TFFIU

They're going to shove the camera into the face of the wrong person some day, and their camera will need to be… how shall I phrase it… extracted…

Burke: "Can I at least have the memory card back?"

    Doctor: "No"

Ok, can you at least put the phone on vibrate, Doc, please?

it’s going to happen eventually that someone will snap at them , surprised it hasn’t happened yet . They are getting more and more brazen when challenging people. You would wonder how far they might go .

I know it’s what they want , they want someone to throw a few slaps at them and that’s why guards largely ignore them. They want to be seen as victims and as persecuted because of their religious beliefs.

You wouldn’t get away with that kind of interaction with public officials in any other country you would jumped on and locked.
Grown men shouting and roaring at a pregnant woman on a public street

Actually, in isolation I don't think it is serious enough to be struck off permanently if he accepted his behaviour was wrong. But the fact of the matter is he'll never do that, and no right minded principal will ever even dream of hiring him anyway.

I see a simple way out of that: bringing the profession into disrepute should be one of the upper level of offences that registered membership of the teaching profession governed by the teaching council would be a no-no for any teacher being or seeking membership, like defrocking is for members of other professions. A casting out, as it were.

Given Maria is a gay woman, unfortunately they probably don't have much respect or regard for her.

They would undoubtedly think that her being pregnant as a homosexual is an abomination.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,604 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Possibly plausible but they could be accused of a blasphemy if they were to say it was so. After all their God doesn't create abominations and surely no self-respecting Christian would say something else had the power of creation at it's fingertips.

Every pregnancy is a gift from God etc etc - but we know they are exceptionally selective in their allegedly Christian beliefs as it is.

It is so easy to point out their breaches of the Ten Commandments (bearing false witness) and actions that breach the Seven Deadly Sins (assuming you are always right is Pride) anyway. Anyone who is actually Christian should be denouncing this cult.

Big question is, are they going to collect on it, sieze property, bank accounts etc…

I said before if I was bored enough either start recording them and/or just start belting out "I'm Too Sexy", "Sex Bomb", "Sexy and I Know It", "Can't Touch This", "It Wasn't Me", "Thong Song", "Who Let The Dogs Out" etc. with optional dance moves.

Just go full Rorschach "You don't understand Marvelous Mammy Martina, You're not wasting my time I'm wasting yours......cmon now Amorous Ammi lets have a twerk off that Jovial Josiah can judge"........

I'd love to see a gang of pig ignorant court appointed bailiffs arrive at their house one day and harass the hell out of them, walk through their house and take anything of value to cover the debt. See how they like it when they are the ones getting harassed.

if he owes 452k but has only paid 51k…. how the hell has he overpaid €700? 🤣

Barrister Niall Ó hUiginn, appearing for a receiver appointed to Burke’s Department of Education salary, said his client had collected some €51,000. Some of this money had been paid forward to the school to satisfy debts, while the rest of the money went to the Court Service’s fines office.
There was an overpayment of about €700 to the school,
the court heard. Mallon said the overpayment will be repaid.

The School was paid €700 extra that should have gone to the Court services.

Oh I'd say as far as they're concerned she's the spawn of Satan.

I think the mother is at the core of all that's wrong with the Burke family, I don't have a lot of respect for people who choose to homeschool their children, in spite of what the parents may tell you it's usually not in the child's best interest, they can lose out on a lot of the important socialisation that goes on in the school setting. For Martina Burke it's all about control, she decided what her children were and weren't exposed to, she wanted to make sure that her views became those of her children. She has an awful lot to answer for.

I wonder how his release could even be considered given his track record. Perhaps its just box ticking and that he will remain in prison.

Or else maybe its connected to his removal from the payroll. An opportunity to transgress with a severe sanction to follow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭Beefcake82

honestly, i could see Martina having a "medical emergency" of convenient timing cough cough if that happened

The headlines: Irishwoman has miraculous recovery of health, rises from sick bed to battle with bailiffs.

Maybe after a sudden rush of energy to the teaching council ended in the cancellation of his teachers licence resulted in the "I'm a teacher" legs he stood upon when previously attending at the gates of WHS cut away, the high court might coincidentally then see its way to letting him free in a "judicious" way of giving him one more chance to change his ways.

If he returns to WHS, it'll then be open to bring criminal chages against him and anyone who joins him in his roadshow.

I'm not sure if the reporting on EB's fines included this specification from Justice Cregan. It is on the Breaking News.ie website. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breakingnews.ie%2Fireland%2Frough-figure-on-enoch-burke-fines-above-268000-euro-judge-indicates-1917993.html%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHpL5gWhrtRY2e79ymbPZrQlbQHHhSrW2qiAJV2AgnXl8LGaFdogjYdZhtkI5_aem_WJx0J7aJMCFab21EPT74Kw&h=AUDCljWBBgdRdO2qprFFeD377XeG3bjndp5TJfrz4zlEtX_ROqbUcVUa09Ff2ny8I1DApGQh6Au4PTC1uXG4K7NkMRR6ghSZ1x476u-1C9M_H7TbyGKgIxA4seTQqO9yuhEffa3wxaEIUpBiwWE4WvBNkufjMA&tn=%2CmH-R&c[0]=AUCsrEOvoTD3UMTPzPw8Ai8POU5Tfqd4J1n5AziRGBQPe-8VYTpGrfIchD07vOGxLryni_VKRYpD2UWMahBOHKhAdjZTRGUtJsKSWIxqVb5J5NZ8yH_aaikk34i8VLTKWAMs2EBdnUtmXxUkyb1WZrbV9yWm3fP9TqKQaVfh-esUDqj9BPlIKNEULvj-IeZLYPmQu974WXH7AEiJHif-tExDKHw8vCI

On Wednesday, Rosemary Mallon for the School's board of management, estimated that EB's fines amounted to €452,100. This was based on orders based on the number of days EB had refused to purge his contempt and the different level of fine which have applied over the past 4 years - which had increased from €700 to €1,400 and €2,000 per day following subsequent orders from judges.

However, Justice Cregan took issue with the calculations and said he did not believe it was the intent of the orders to include school holidays and weekends. He said Burke could only trepass at the school on days it was sitting and it was the "import" of the orders that he would be fined for breaches of court orders by trespassing.

Further details on the court discussion of EB's fines total is on the link above.
