What derogatory comment? If he was 22 with the same experience that would be better, no?

Stating someone's age is not derogatory. If I was to call someone a drama queen for deliberate misinterpretation that might be derogatory.

I don’t see Dorgu ever playing full back or even wing back for us again.

I think the club would sell Zirkzee in a heartbeat, the main problem being that outside of a few Serie A clubs, I can't see there being many takers.

I can't see us going for both Fernandes AND Touchameni, I think that would be an Either/Or situation and we end up going for another Ederson type squad backups.

I'm concerned that there's no talk of a RB. In Maz or Dalot, we have two players who are really only squad players in a top team imo, a top quality RB would really improve our starting team.

    1. Fernandes OR Touchameni

    2. Hall / Starting LB

    3. Summerville / Additional Forward

    4. Starting RB

Assuming Ederson is done. They would be my priorities in order, and I might even swap 3 and 4.

1, 2, 4 improve the first team immediately imo.

Never going to fix everything in one go - but in terms of the starting XI - CB is a far bigger issue than RB imo.

I think Dalot is overhated. Mazroui is also solid if not spectacular. Neither are a title winning RB but both are serviceable. Our 3 CBs who are ‘good enough’ (question mark on Maguire) all have massive injury question marks. I expect Heaven and Yoro to have to play a lot of games this year because of those injuries. Dalot and Mazroui are levels above those two at this stage.

Tricky one to solve as we won’t be able to move on the CBs we have, but it’s going to be a massive massive problem this year imo.

I'd have RB way down my list of priorities personally. Is Dalot frustrating? Absolutely. Is he a World Class RB? Definitely not. But he's not a total waste either and his constant availability is an asset. Much weaker full backs have been starters in PL winning teams. Maz has won domestic leagues elsewhere and is a very solid FB too. I just can't see us prioritising a new RB ahead of any of the other positions that need much more strengthening this summer.

Sometimes you just have to trust in the players you already signed (Yoro and Heaven) We ain't winning the league this year, so why stifle the development of young players with huge potential in order to bring in another experienced CB on top of the 3/4 we already have?

Early waffle today, might be more later

Crysencio Summerville is NOT a priority for Paris Saint-Germain at the moment. He is on the list of Manchester United, keeping a close EYE on him. There will be movements. #MUFC [@FabrizioRomano]——————-

The reason for United playing it cool at the moment [regarding the Mateus Fernandes situationn], is because they believe that West Ham need cash before June 30 to balance the books and avoid the risk of breaching Premier League or EFL financial regulations. They posted a £104million loss last year, and that financial report made it clear player sales were necessary, even without relegation.

    [@TyMarshall_MEN] #mufc——————-

Manchester United are working HARD on both the club and player side to get a deal for Mateus Fernandes over the line.

The feeling is that whichever club presents the best proposal to West Ham will also secure the player.

Tottenham have held talks with Jorge Mendes, but there is still no agreement on personal terms.

    #MUFC [@FabrizioRomano YT]——————

Manuel Ugarte is still very likely to leave Manchester United this transfer window. United want to recoup as much of the £44m fee they paid for him.

There is interest from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Italy, but United are hoping a good World Cup from him will increase his market value. [@SkySportsNews] #mufc—————-

Some low tier guy Pete Hall claiming Spurs are on for Rashford....Awful source but I'll throw it in for the laugh.

That would be my thinking, if Yoro and Heaven playing a lot of games is the worst case, then it'll stand to us/them down the line.

We could be in a position where we have 5/6 CB options as it stands (Shaw the 6th). Injury records would suggest we won't have them all available, but we'll have 3/4 at any one time imo.

There's plenty of unknowns there re CB, but most fans know / would say that neither Dalot or Maz aren't good enough to be starters. Two quality full backs at LB & RB would transform the way we play, especially in an attacking sense imo.

LOL at Romano now saying Spurs haven't even agreed personal terms with Fernandes. After the panic here the other night thats brightened up my dull morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,805 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I'm not 100% sure but I think it was only mentioned they where close to agreeing terms and a poster lost his **** claiming they are showing us up.

Isn't there a change of rules coming in regards to PSR. That any transfer that goes through before June 30th falls under the old rules and after 30th it's the new rules.

Could see Mendes using Spurs as a way to rush United to get a deal done with West Ham.

Antonee Robinson as a LB option for me, especially as his profile may rise after the World Cup

Spurs bidding for Fernandes, Tonali and possibly even Rashford. Where are they getting all the money this summer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,271 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

Is the Ederson deal done ?

And if not, then I guess it means United haven't signed anyone yet.

Or sold anyone? (not including expired contracts)

Always the dilemma and not saying there’s a right answer. Agreed we won’t win the title but I do think we should be aiming to solidify in the top 5. Falling straight back out of CL (my fear is we will) would be damaging for the rebuild.

My personal view is you can finish top 5 with Dalot or Mazrouai at right back. You cannot finish top 5 with last years Leny Yoro starting at CB. So you’re gambling on him taking a massive step forward this year or De Ligt/Martinez/Maguire staying fit.

For reference when Yoro started last year -

    18 games 26 points. 1.44ppg

    When he didn’t

    20 games 45 points 2.25ppg

Sofascore had him 42nd out of 47 qualifying CBs last year. He may have potential, but as of right now, he’s nowhere near the level needed so it’s a big gamble.

No hasn't been done yet. He was on holidays when he got the WC call up at a wedding so I assume the plan was to get medical and stuff done after the holiday but he was called up for WC in the mean time.

The Stadium rakes in huge amounts of money plus CL last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,635 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Those ppg looked quite familiar, it's very close to Amorim vs Carrick.

    • Michael Carrick: 2.23 PPG
    • Rúben Amorim: 1.55 PPG

Two thirds of Yoro's starts came under Amorim's 3 ATB system so that's probably saying more about ppg from the different managers rather than being a "Yoro thing"?

Would agree that having a 20 year old CB is a gamble, and he still has a lot to learn, kind of natural given his age in that position.

If I'm taking a chance, I would prefer us to be taking a chance on young players with potential. We often have fans asking why we can't develop youngsters anymore, we/Ineos paid 60m for this particular youngster, so I'm hoping he gets up to speed soon - and he needs games to do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,705 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

But we aren't starting him. Even with De Ligt missing there is still Maguire and Martinez there, and Heaven. We aren't going into the season relying Yorro to perform, he won't even be first choice.

Another senior CB completely blocks the development of the two kids without actually making much difference to our overall quality, since we aren't going to spend money on anybody better than Maguire and Martinez.

From the United app, land nearly secured it seems. Not sure if that's just the stadium or if we still need more for the surrounding infrastructure.

Also may or may not be relevant, but Andy Burnham who was the mayor of Manchester at the time of the announcement, and who was a big supporter and advocate for the plans, is the likely new Prime Minister.

Plus they can't take the chance of another year in a row fighting relegation, third time unlucky et al.

Everton have been doing it on and off for the last 30 years… :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,805 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Nothing new in the afternoon other than Chido Obi and Amass have loan interest from lower divisions (even we could have guessed that).

Apparently the club think Summerville has massive potential.

Heres hoping for some late evening Fernandes news!

Everton have had the big advantage of not being Spurs 😉

Might need to move RB up the list of priorities after all...

We should go for that young lad from Argentina. He scored another two today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

He'd have to pay out his contract id imagine if this is true. Contracts goes both ways.

Im all for people following what they want to do, its not as easy as the quote above says tho.

A player can retire any time he wants, to the best of my knowledge.

The only time a player would need to buy out his own contract is if he has intentions to move to another club and negotiate another contract, which doesn't appear to be the case here.
