I can't remember a season where I have been so depressed watching us.

    We are totally clueless.

Ya, last half hour it was just give it to Olayinka and hope he can create something out of nothing. McClean came on and did nothing. Duffy was brilliantly shackled. Didn't know Marley was playing. O'Reilly was quiet. Barr and Dummigan were poor against Walshy.

It's mad that the manager is still there given the resources he's had available to him. Doing an awful job.

Good open game in UP. Either side could have won, either side could have lost so a draw a fair result.

Little controversy, lots of effort, a decent ref so neither side can really complain!

Harps and Treaty are a bit cut off from the rest after results last evening. Kerry are making a bit of a push to get back into playoff contention. Had underperformed for much of the season despite so-called experienced signings. Wexford, Longford, Athlone and possibly Kerry could be battling it out for the rest of the season for the final playoff spot.

The playoff system doesn't offer any major advantage for finishing 2nd or 3rd. It's a bit flawed in that sense but the clubs seem to prefer it.

Cork are sailing off into the sunset after overcoming a bit of a wobble a few weeks back.

Late winners are great aren't they? Strange match in Richmond last night, ended 2-0, could easily have been 6-4 or something like that. Sligo had some really good chances in the 1st half and were the better side even if we also had some good chances.

2nd half started even enough but we took over after the 55th minute or so and the last 20 minutes were a siege more or less of the Sligo box. Still Sligo were defending very well and it looked like a frustrating draw before Redmond headed in with 30 seconds left. Forrester then scored on the counter almost straight from the Sligo kick off in an incredible few minutes of injury time. Important to get over the line and get the win but we weren't great for chunks of the match and need to be a good deal better next week in Dalymount.

Leavy almost scored the goal of the season in the 2nd half. Fantastic dribble from inside his own half, skipping past three Sligo players and hitting the post from a shot 25 yards out.

Surely Lynch has to go now. Don’t know what the board in Derry are waiting for

Hard to understand the Independent posting a story that tells basically nothing about what the nature of the story is.

It's the Sligo Champion basically reprinting the Rovers statement, but all the regional papers owned by the Indo have their articles posted on the Indo site.

It's just a few little green street wannabes who were banned. There's more than 3 of them as well so the rest need to be identified.

Hard to understand how that required a club statement or a news story really.

I think it's normal to release a statement and also remind fans of the rules. It was in The Sun the other day that Bohs put out a similar statement after issuing some stadium bans. They are facing a partial stadium closure if there's any more trouble.

I dunno if those kind of statements are a requirement when banning someone, but if not, a club statement and a newspaper article to tell us about anonymous people committing anonymous offences wouldn’t appear to be educating anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,851 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Everyone in Sligo knows the story because we all saw what happened and there's no real need for details in the statement. A few idiots were causing trouble at the Bohs game trying to start fights, and one of them tried to throw a flare back into the away section. One or two were taken out by the guards.

A statement about those idiots being banned from the showgrounds was posted on our own website and posted in a local paper for our own supporters' benefit. A lot of our older supporters still get all their news from the Champion and don't use the internet which is why club statements are printed in the paper.

If they were to simply ban them without a statement then nobody would know and some people would inevitably accuse the club of being soft on hooliganism.

And everyone in the LOI knows that when there is a negative story like this the media are all over it.

Am I reading that starting lineup right , shels with no striker starting ? Dan Kelly or wood maybe playing as leading man ? Very odd

Shame league of Ireland isn’t trying to adopt the World Cup reffing, rewarding so many soft frees. Players touched and they fall to the ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,185 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Got your wish there when he didn't fall for Boyd going down easy in the area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

Ironic as there was more contact on him then the soft free to bohs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

What was with the starting lineup , Joey lost that in first half, completely giving Bohs initiative.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,737 ✭✭✭Barnaboy

3-0, so Bohs. On a bad run, expecting another defeat and then a great win out of nowhere.

Is there a more Jeckyl and Hyde team in the league?

Threshold is higher in the box. Rightly or wrongly.

They should have followed World Cup changes, they’ve totally destroyed the divers who fall at any touch. Can’t see any reason why LOI can’t adopt it. Not picking on Bohs, it’s endemic in the sport and it shouldn’t be rewarded.

    JOB under pressure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

That starting lineup alone begs questions.

We have been ravaged with injuries but I think there’s been enough availabile to not have the worst home record and be losing games in the most absurd circumstances. Drogehda 4-3 prob would have been the end for some.

Not sure if the club can’t afford it or have no other options. When wood goes we are F**ked

That was appalling tonight, just hit and hope stuff

Not a clue how he has lasted this long. People acting like we had an off night when we’re now 5 points off 4th with THEM being the ones with the game in hand.

Surprised with how dreadful Shels were this evening. I know Bohs got an early goal with a great strike and maybe it rattled them but they offered nothing in the first half and Bohs deserved their two goals. They were a bit better at the start of the 2nd half when Boyd and Fritas came on but that didn't last long and Bohs were beginning to have chances on the counter fairly often before they got the 3rd. Wood went off injured too which sums up a dreadful night for Shels.

Bohs looked a lot sharper with Whelan up top than the last few times I've seen them and their Midfield was on top for most of the game. We've a tough match against them in Dalymount on Friday.
