Hi, I've decided last minute to meet my daughter in Bangkok, she lives in Melbourne so it's half way. We're heading on 26th June. Got my vaccinations. Now to book where to stay and where to go but i haven't a clue about Thailand.

I've booked a good hotel in Bangkok because everyone is telling me not to drink water, nor to eat salad so I said a good hotel, should have good clean food???

Next, what should we do / not do for our 4 day stay in Bangkok

Then, When we fly to phuket for 6 nights where do we stay. What area?. Haven't a clue about the islands. Would like to do a day trip to phi phi and James bond Island other than that take it easy.

Really appreciate all your suggestions please.

Dont be afraid of the food in Thailand, its amazing, keep your whits about you as to what looks clean or not but dont limit yourself as you'll sorely miss out. The biggest mistake most make is not hydrating enough and getting sick from that as its super humid.

In Bangkok visit The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Chinatown, Khosan Road, visit some of the rooftop bars for the views. Honestly theres so many things depending on what vibe you want, a google search will give loads of info. Note if youre going to a temple or palace dress correctly.

In Phuket last time I stayed it was by Karon beach, its smaller and quieter than Patong, close to Kata beach. So again it depends on what you want, you'll find a range of hotel types and prices all over. You'll be able to book any trips you want all over the island.

As far as BKK goes ( never been to Phuket ) sound advice above, but we avoid Khaosan Road, too western imho.

Never had a worry about food in Thailand. I did drink bottled water though.
Bangkok is a beautiful city. Head down to the palace, take a boat trip up the river, visit some temples, visit the markets. Plenty to do and see. You will love it.
Phuket has nice beaches and food but the nightlife is a bit nuts.

I never felt in danger in either but you do need to keep your wits about you if you hang around the party places.
Lots of scammers so carry smaller denomination notes as change might not always be forthcoming. Stay away from tuk tuks.
