You are being silly now. There are always fluctuations in attendance and capacity on the day. Not all ticket holders show up for example. The capacity changes from game to game for lots of logistical reasons . But they were sell outs and are recorded everywhere as same. You are on your own in saying they were not.

Not engaging further, you are trolling (badly).

Yeah, it's hard to see it at this point.

The instability at 3 and 6 wouldn't fill you with confidence, full back line looks very leaky. Now McInerney and possibly Cleary are injured too.

We just need to hope we somehow stumble upon the right combination in 2 weeks.

They're rampant in underage. I've lost count of the number of young lads I've seen take hips and shoulders to the heads while rising a sliothar and refs don't give a damn. More worried about sending off a young lad than they are about a lad getting concussed or worse.

GAA need to get on top of this.

It's been a poor championship alright, but that's due to a number of underperformers, Tipp, Kilkenny, Wexford. Clare probably and the end of a cycle with a number of stalwarts ( looks like the players are coming through to rebuild), Dublin time and again unable to build on momentum.

One of the great achievements....something Cork will always be able to look back on with pride.

Many here love bashing Clare, I've yet to see a decent explanation as to why. The "big" hurling counties got upset with them when they starting matching them in the 90s and that put a target on their backs. I have no idea of the reason for more recent hatred though.

Glad Cork have the trophy for best attendance anyway, fair play to them. Per capita Cork, Clare and Kk have the highest attendance averages anyway. Some poster put up something about it ages ago. Corks large population and rich history obviously has a lot to do with things, but personally I prefer to focus on whats happening on the pitch rather than how many are there watching it.

Limerick are only on 12 all Irelands and even if Cork go another twenty years without winning one, i wouldn't be surprised if we're still well ahead of you on the role of honour.😁

For all the moaning about having to travel to Cork, there sure wasn't much Clare folk in Thurles yesterday.🤣

Like obviously Cork and Limerick will be many people's favourites but a Clare and Galway being completely written off could cause an upset.

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!

I'm a 35 year old Cork man. Clare have won more all Irelands than us in my life time. We need to move away from using the roll of honour as a debating point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,110 ✭✭✭✭threeball

Cork have won the same number of all irelands as galway since 1980. Talking about all irelands won more than 50 years ago is nonsense. 4 all irelands for both counties is embarrassing given the quality of players they have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,932 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Ya it wasn't much comfort to me that Limerick had more All Irelands than Clare, Offaly or Galway while I was watching them win in my lifetime.

Last time they looked really good was the 2024 final and they have had some utterly woeful days since. There was plenty of warning signs in that back line again today. Limerick will probably be something like +5 favourites next game.

Still in a semi final with a team of AI winners so a turn around is possible and it's not that different to where Tipp were last year.

Yes bragging about all Irelands won before WW1 is bizarre. You'd swear lads were playing themselves !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

Fair enough. Cork have a glorious history. Limerick have the advantage of not needing a history lesson every time someone asks about success. 😁 Imagine telling a county that's won multiple All-Irelands in the last few years that they're supposed to be jealous of historical statistics 🤦‍♂️

I’m not sure why people use it a stick to beat Cork with, calling it hype or whatever. Yes of course they’d prefer to be winning all Irelands, but having large support even when they’re not winning is a good thing I’d have thought.

Anyway, I was only able to listen to the first half of yesterday’s match on the radio. I watched the second half expecting more from Dublin but unfortunately it never came and it was very lacklustre. Hopefully the injured players will be ok as they’ll need to give everything regardless if it’s Limerick or Galway they play in the Semi.

    Any update from Reidy?

What's the cut off period for when we can start discounting all irelands won? 10 years? 20 years? 30 years? Are we starting from scratch again at 2018?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

Don't worry, nobody's erasing Cork's history. It seems Cork supporters are making sure it'll never be forgotten because it's getting brought up a lot more than current medals.

Yip. To back this up, most websites list PuC as having a 45,000 capacity. The Munster Final had only 43,365 as the official attendance but the match was definitely sold out. Likewise the attendance in the round 2 game was reported as 43,369 and was also definitely sold out. This would be partly because PuC has had the allowed attendance in the terraces as per its operating licence lower than what was originally anticipated due to known ongoing issues with the terraces and loading them safely etc.

    and

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41008505.html

wherein that report notes the following and also quotes Kevin O'Donovan, the then Chairperson of the Cork County Board as saying:

The Cork secretary explained that stadium capacity was limited to 41,500 for the rugby game because of overcrowding that occurred at the front of either terrace at the end of the Liam Miller tribute game four years ago. It will take another three high-demand games at the Ballintemple venue before the full 45,000 capacity is restored.

“At the Liam Miller event, all the supporters in the terraces gravitated towards the front of the terrace to get signatures from their heroes. It meant there was a little bit of crowding and vomitories on the day. On that basis, the fire officer recommended that we establish the capacity at the lower level of 41,500, and then we increase it subsequently as the matches come in and we graduate back to the full 45,000.

“It is our full intention to get back to 45,000, increasing it by 500 per match in each terrace. That means capacity goes back up 1,000 each time to get back to our full capacity.”

To be fair, don't forget that some of the GAA terraced areas are enormous - especially both of the terraces in PuC which were expected to hold 12,000 per terrace - that means each was supposed to hold more than the entirety of Tallaght Stadium. The attendance figure at the final and the earlier April game would imply that the current licenced capacity is somewhere around 11,200/11,250 per terrace.

Semple Stadium actual current licenced capacity versus capacity listed on various websites is probably a similar story.

these hits are becoming more like ferocious "body checks" in ice hockey, something needs to change with the ruling very very soon before its too late

Looking back on it this morning, it was one of the more cowardly hits I've seen. Opportunity now for a statement lengthy ban

Probably gets brought up as much by some Cork supporterrs, as how long Cork are without a title, by some non Cork supporters.

Only one thing worse than being talked about.

Looking forward to the game today. Offaly will give it their best and hopefully it will be an entertaining game in the heat of Thurles.

It will be interesting to see how the Cork changes get on.

Can't see a shock happening though, Cork by 8 at a guess.

But you never know, Dublin knocked out Limerick at the same stage, be some achievement for Offaly to do the same to Cork.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

I agree though, hard to see anything other than a Cork win. Offaly will bring plenty of fight, but over 70 minutes Cork should have too much. Imo it will be a lot more than 8 pts

Cork could possibly rip them apart and win by 20. They beat Clare by around 16 and the second half was only training pace.

But I really hope that doesn't happen. Cork winning by around 8 would - in some ways - be a good result for both teamss.

Want cork to win of course but have huge respect for county like offaly who keep both codes alive and just get on with.

After watching Clare win well last night hard see anything but easy Cork win.

I thoght same though in 2000 semi final.....

Offaly being here is ahead of where they expected in their progress so it's not gonna be like Dublin last year. Important to at least end the year on a good note and playing in front of probably their biggest crowd yet should be good for them going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭endainoz

Cork 1/33, not the best value!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,285 ✭✭✭Glenomra

We're [Clare] in an all Ireland semifinal despite playing poorly in most games this year and dreadfully against limerick and cork. The modern format of qualifiers has certainly suited counties like Clare, whereas the traditional system allowed for continued dominance by Kilkenny, Cork and tipperary. All changed indeed!. Fortunate to be in a semi final but we're there and have a reasonable chance of getting to the final. Local rivalries demands a titanic effort, fortune smiling on the Banner, and who knows!

    This comes from Clare GAA

"Clare hurler David Reidy has been released from hospital and is recovering well following the injury he sustained in yesterday’s game"

    Great to hear!!

Donegal, regardless of the result look jaded. The Dublin old guard are some men.
