I wonder will Michael Murphy get that red card today, so confidently predicted on the thread after the League Final. Murphy is a "marked man" for a retrospective red. They didn't take the opportunity when Donegal played Kerry, must be waiting for Murphy to return to the scene of the crime.

    He was clearly fired up.

As I said, don't give a ref a decision to make by you being a hard man. The ref only sees these incident once, usually out of the corner of their eye as they are concentrating on something else (like the football ),and you're asking them to make a split second decision based on incomplete information (a glance out of the corner of their eye.) . They are going to get it wrong some of the time. What's in your control as a player is not to be an asshole and 'laying one ' on the opponent.

As I said,I'm no mayo fan and I won't defend the mayo player and how he reacted, but this is 100 percent avoidable and 100 percent the meath man's fault

How the Quarter Finals are shaping up.

    https://www.balls.ie/gaa/new-gaa-all-ireland-format-explained-655495

In the first instance, repeat provincial final pairings are avoided. Where possible, repeat meetings from earlier stages of this year's championship are also prevented.

As a result, the following quarter-final pairings cannot occur:

    • Cork v Kerry / Donegal
    • Louth v Dublin
    • Galway v Westmeath
    • Tyrone v Mayo

Just saw that meath red, was a terrible decision.

Nice to see both Gooch and Peter Canavan coming out and being absolutely adamant that the Meath red card was wrong.

They could not have been clearer in their opinions.

Expecting a big one from Dubs today. Donegal should have too much, but I think the Dubs will make them work.

8 day turnaround crucial for Donegal as opposed to the 6 for Armagh.

Gallen and McHugh dropped to bench for Donegal. Campbell and Malone in.

3 points kicked in 3 minutes see Donegal take the lead.

Dublin sloppy in possession. That was poor by Basquel, easily dispossessed by Langan. Redeems himself with a point...1st score in 13 mins.

    Ffs Comerford is useless

Donegal goal coming from a poor kickout.

Amateur hour again from RTE. Missing kickouts showing slow motion replays of a player after getting a score. Not good enough, these games are won and lost on kickouts and they are not showing all of them, pathetic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,247 ✭✭✭MFPM

That's unfortunate for Doran, he's been decent this year...Dublin unlucky with injuries this year with a squad in transition.

Great controlled finish by Con, how many times do ya see that type of chance just go for a powerful shot that's skied over the bar.

Awful kickout again, this time by Donegal and Dublin score a goal. 3 kickouts in a row, 2 over the sideline and 1 leading to a goal.

Donegal not looking as strong as I’d expected but Dublin badly wasting good opportunities

Donegal with a goal in the last minute of the first half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭Comic Book Guy

And another super finish by Mogan, big mistake by Dublin not to run down the clock during their attack just before the goal

Donegal running through the Dublin defence with ease and score another goal.

In fairness every team have run through Dublin all season...Dublin just don't seem to learn.

Pure stupidity from Dublin and Basquel with another wild effort that's not on.

90 seocnds left, keep the ball and get the shot away and if it goes wide time is up so you go in 1 up instead of 2 down. Absolutely daft stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

It’s exactly what I was shouting at the screen. Braindead stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 901 ✭✭✭Treble double

Dublin doing well, Basquel and Con have stood up and took shots on, but a couple of bad wides from Basquel especially last one when the clock could have been ran down and Donegal get the goal from the often seen before Murphy flicked on kick out. Dublin are game but they need to be scoring everything to win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

If Donegal have their shooting boots on in second half they will reel off the 2 pointers and win comfortably. Not sure Donegal can be that bad in second half but not sure Dublin can raise their performance any better than that. Feels like a missed opportunity for Dublin there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 24,787 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

No 2 pointers for Donegal and just one for Dublin in the first half. I can recall four attempts between them that failed. Croke Park is difficult for 2 pointers, but Donegal will be playing into the "scoring goals" in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,110 ✭✭✭✭threeball

I don't disagree, Galway have a habit of losing to teams far worse than them but theres no denying Galways ceiling is higher than any of the teams you mention should they click.

I don't give any of the other teams outside of Donegal and Galway a chance against kerry and as I said, in Galways case their chances are low even on a good day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,037 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Crinklewood

Donegal with the wind should get a few in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,831 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

RTE trying to dump on Donegal as much. Dublin ain't be great either. Disagree there teasing Donegal apart

I think lack of physicality might be as much down to the threat Donegal see Dublin. If it’s close near end I’d expect some possible Chunky tackes
