Did this not all stem from one poster putting up his phone phone number publicly asking the other poster to ring them claiming they defamed them?

I would imagine the threat of legal action spooked that admin to put up that post.

this seems to have happened because of that dope Dairyedge and FTM2023, diaryedge got banned first, I’m guessing he started crying about to an admin about FTM and one of our mods here, FTM seems to be banned since yesterday. Dairyedge had an irrational obsession with one of our Mods so I’d imagine he’d only love the chance to stick the boot in on the way out. I think this is a brilliant place and I’ve got more information here than anywhere else (as late as yesterday when I bought a Mulcher based on what I read here), but there are some who are hell bent on starting sh*t at any opportunity, getting personal about stuff from their high horse. It’s like if there is a fight in a pub you can predict who was involved before you even hear the names, it’s always the same few pri*ks and it’s never their fault.

This is really the only forum I read on boards now, because most of the posters are fairly open minded and fair in conversation. There is the odd bit of left Vs right bullshit now and again but never as bad as some of the stuff you would see on other forums, current affairs especially. Then you get the odd person on with an anti farming agenda looking to stir things up a bit. Yes they might get rounded on a bit, but that's only natural reaction.

There are one or two regulars that like to troll a bit, but they mostly get bored and slink away for a while or get pegged down by other contributors. But it never gets too serious.

Threatening PM's are another thing entirely and putting up or speculating on people's real identities is not on. I think someone tired to dox a poster recently enough going as far as putting up a name. Now you have a real person linked to posts by an anonymous person who could be anyone. I can see how this could become a problem for that real person, the poster and boards.

I don't post much, I'm not actively farming but am interested in farming and farm life. I pop in a few times a day to catch up, it's like a little window into our rural communities that is getting lost I think.

It would be a shame if the forum lost that now over a few messers.

I think the forum Mods do a very good job on keeping things on track when needed. Yes it's light touch, but that is generally all that's required. The forum is pretty much self moderating.

For the vast majority of the time, there’s no need to mod anything on here. Posters are polite and things rarely getting personal even on emotional subjects.

I’m guessing most of us are busy enough in real life - that keeps us grounded and stops us fighting with strangers online.

There was an incident this week. It’s been dealt with as far as I’m aware.

Official mods are farmers first and unpaid volunteers second on here. But every poster is also a mod - mind yourselves.

    And happy Father’s Day.

The mods do a reasonable job, the fuel protest thread probably could have been closed a bit sooner than it was because things seemed to get a bit personal there but overall it's generally well managed.

I've been in plenty of heated discussions myself but happy to say I've never been PMd by an abusive poster about anything. If someone here is at this childish sh1te then they badly need to grow the fck up.

I was going through things on Agfood making sure things were in order. I was down with Tb in 2024. Im clear since. Tested in feb and clear. There's no tb in this area now. Tested in feb and the vet and myself said we'll see each other next year. I just happened for the cod to click into a section of tb testing and I'm down for testing in august and the vet has agreed a date and me the farmer is paying. You'd feel like a slave sometimes.

If you are not savy as a farmer on the computer now you are completely out of it. I'm completely out of it and so are the farm orgs by agreeing that the farmer pays for six month testing. The say my name cash machine.

No wonder 4000 farmers quit from the department biss system last year.

like @endainoz has said above. How common are PM’s anyway? It’s February since I pm’d anyone or had one back! Maybe I’m just a loner lol! But back to Enda’s point, as he said, he has been in a few heated discussions and never received a PM about same. @Reggie. could be on to something here, all a load of bull with ulterior motives.

Farmers only have to pay for 1 test per year. Unless that changed lately?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 32,383 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

We're down to test in August too, tested in February and paid for that one, down to pay for this next one too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,205 ✭✭✭✭Say my name

That's what I thought. It's down as paid for by farmer.

Do the dept still put a brass tag in reactors

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 114 ✭✭Sergeant Bilco

Am with you on this, it mentions mod not doing their jobs fairly, but then says changes will be made, before an investigation has been completed.

I’d say leave it be and let the mods do their stuff. Forum works best when we move on.

Following the earlier cycling theme we were out this morning for a spin. The snack options along a route are vital too.

Lovely morning for cemetery Sunday. Usual craic every year, when the priest reads out the names of the dead, you forget some of them were dead and a few you didnt even know they were dead. All fresh flowers , most of them won't be replaced until next year. Then you see some of the graves with no-one attending to them at all. Everyone nodding and smiling in the graveyard, then cutting each other off trying to get out of the carpark/field.

Donegal n Armagh gone. The list of anyone who could trouble Kerry is getting small - could be said its non -existant!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭GNWoodd

Department can do it or your own vet can do it .
On a related note, has anyone heard of any changes in the limits on compensation for reactor cattle ? It’s a joke that the the value placed on an individual animal by a department Valuer is ignored when it suits them !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,972 ✭✭✭✭Reggie.

Talk about that a few months ago I think in the media. Its to do with the depts budget I believe. Cant keep up with the amount of reactors

Out Holding up traffic were you 😅

@Say my name you have to have a follow up test 6 months after you clear test following a TB breakdown. You wouldn't have to pay for it as I assumed you paid following your clear test, only 6 months ago.

I wouldn't say your vet agreed.. it would just have rolled out that he has.

If you get clear on this test which pg you will then your annual test will be in August... which is probably when you annual test was anyway....

No, i think in any area where there has been tb , 6 months tests will be the norm going forward. Annual tests are rare enough around here anyway. We just don't understand why we're down to pay after already paying this year

I'm stuck on 6 month tests atm. Feb this year would have been a year since I could sell stock. I'll enquire off my vet.
