    She couldn't even count

with four mammoth speakers and screen rigs

She really does miss the point alright

but the ‘No Repeat’ aspect of this gig is what ultimately proves its downfall: stripping the set list of some of their biggest crowd-pleasing hits feels like a missed opportunity for a truly great show.

it’s insane how people’s perceptions of sound can be so different. Sounds like you were right beside us and everyone around me was saying how good the sound was for Metallica. Unless small differences in where you are located can really make that much difference.

Pantera in the rain was epic, even if the sound mix was utter shite.

Metallica were Metallica, and it's always great to see them, but songs 5-7 were a bit of a slog to get through, and no-one around me knew what song Rob and Kirk were doing, which I probably wouldn't have either if I didn't recognize the riff and the guitar. Everything from day that never onwards was just Masters plying their craft though, but you put something a bit more crowd friendly in at the 5th or 6th song and I think you amplify the whole gig.

As usual with the actual greats, you have the awkward conflict of the songs you did hear vs the songs you didn't, but Sunday exists to balance that out, they better play Thunderstruck......

I might “write a strongly worded letter with my Mont-Blanc pen” (IYKYK) registering my offence to her review!

It’s not a greatest hits tour after all. No more than the absolute dose of clowns beside me I doubt she could name 3 Metallica albums.

Yes, the salary is enormous, I understand that, but that doesn't affect my soul.

It was a good night… Pantera sound was quite bad as some have said… Solid performance from Metallica. I was seated (for only the second time in my life). Don't think I would do that again. A guy, luckily, to the left of me never stopped talking to his son for the entire main act. I could tell it was annoying the family behind them… Why do so many of these muppets end up in gigs to ruin it for others!? Sorry… Rant over… Roll on Sunday. Enjoy all.

I don't understand why Avatar where put at one end of the stadium.

Surely center stage would would be better.

    I really prefer indoor concerts

We're staying in a spa hotel for the weekend, nothing like a couple hours in the thermal suite after a night of rock

I have a spare ticket to Kirk Hammets talk in the academy this evening if anyone wants it €50

The tshirts inside the stadium, are they at the pop up store? There's a yellow logo, blue logo and red logo one im thinking of, but might go into the city first and leave them in the car

They usually play it just after “The Venga Bus”

Yeah, they were at the pop up shop, just not the Phil Lynott one.

I don't think you'll be the only one. Saw one woman with what I am guessing is one each tshirt in the pop up and the lady tagging the bags told the security guard that one guy he left in, who was about 10 people ahead of me, was here for the third day in a row.

Yeah that guy isn't there to spend, he's there to scalp! Sickening to hear of people with early entry buying multiple Lynott shirts and now seeing tonnes on Vinted and eBay at 4x the price. I'd have killed for one and just missed out by about a minute!

Thinking of parking at Heuston station all day tomorrow. 8.50 for the day

I had to settle for a large in the women's cut, that was all that was left when Igot there, and there weren't too many of them left. I prefer the men's cut to be honest as I don't like where the sleeve catches under the armpit.

Although, I assume they may have it again tomorrow as mine only has the 19th mentioned on the back, so they may reprint for the 21st.

Hopefully they have more tomorrow. A guy 2 people ahead of me got the last of the men's ones. Sickened

Amazing night, was on the pitch and the atmosphere was class, taught the sound wasn’t great at all for Pantera but improved for Metallica, my ears are still ringing though, anyone know a cure?

Leaner set than I'd see before on this tour. A lot less tapes and breaks. It's pity it's always summer when we see them, takes a way from the atmosphere.

I think they deliberately do a weak middle so that the end is stronger.

Great start with Creeping Death and first 30 mins was class. Hit a lull a bit in the middle but was epic for last 35 mins - Sad But True, Seek & Destroy, Master.
Was a bit worried about having the standing tickets but was glad in the end as could wander about and not have to get up and down as people went in and out.
Had a couple of drinks as well which I never do. They made them very quick to buy with guys scattered all over the place so no queues. Great bit of nostalgia for me as I donned the tshirt I bought for £5 outside the Point in 1992 🙃🤘

low point was the massive DART delays getting there so I missed Pantera.

I asked staff earlier when I was in and they said the Ireland T-shirts get restocked each morning so should be available again tomorrow

Is entry tomorrow 3:30pm for GA or is that time for early entry ticket holders?

Isn't the gates open the same as yesterday, 5pm ?

So if they open early it must be for early entry.

Orion was the highlight of the night for me. Was amazing to hear it played live.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,818 ✭✭✭✭Jelle1880

Same here, it's easily one of my favourite Metallica songs. One of the best parts of the evening.

Now if they could just play Sanitarium tomorrow and I'm a happy man :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,173 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

I'm trying to keep as much of tomorrow as a surprise setlist wise, but Sanitarium came on while driving to get some beers in for tonight, and I will be pumped if that gets belted out. Kinda know what's not being played, know 3 or 4 that will be, but the rest....bring it on. Finally seeing them with a bit of uncertainty on what's coming

    That won’t be played unfortunately
