The US is very weak when it comes to immigration.

Each case is different all the same. If Partey hadn't of disclosed he was arrested on suspicion he would most likely have been denied an entry visa to the US without recourse, likewise he would have been straight away denied entry if an arrest disclosed or undisclosed had led to a conviction, especially one so serious. Can only guess what answer he gave to the former, after all, that's information only relevant to Partey, US immigration and his FA. Disclosure of arrest sounds the most likely, as he'd be bounced if he lied - bit then again, it's probably a daily occurrance for immigration officials.

With the Canadians, the FA/Partey were probably well aware of their host's policies and they tried to purposefully leave out relevant information or at the very least, inaccurate on their application and once found out, his appeal would have had no grounds to stand on straight away and it makes no difference what his reason for entering their territory is whether that's sightseeing or playing football.

It's quite clear, and has already been stated on here, the hosting countries are free to implement whatever entry requirements they see fit and the details aren't always going to be public information in every case.

Nice to see Kenny and Hugh still getting roasted over their "commentary" it was shambolic.

The RTE lads should have saved that kinda thing for the 3rd place playoff in Apres Match style.

I get that feeling Cunningham is going come out with a controversial statement soon

    He seems very touched.

Saw highlights of Turkey game. Seeing the Turkish player at end miss that header go wide and him falling to ground and crying I got great satisfaction with seeing it. Horrible fans, and had many horrible teams. Delighted they are out.

Turkey have been the worst "dark horses" going for about 20 years now

Not a good evening for the commentary all round. Heard McCoist had a bit of a mare when referencing the booing of Hakimi as well. Didn't catch it myself so no idea if it was half-cut sarcasm, but the silence after it was no doubt some producer shouting down the earpiece

I think most people would prefer Risteards Cooper's Kenny Cunningham over the real thing

agreed with almost everything. But, they weren’t remotely funny-entertaining…

Some talk about Gary Lineker showing up for ITVs coverage of the Germany game tonight, presumably as a pundit on the panel, or perhaps just a cameo trying to flog his own streaming stuff.

Dunno if they mentioned it yesterday on their coverage............alternative is Kenny talking about Wirtz and that as he threatened to last night

Sweden finally deciding to show up for the match after giving the Dutch a 20 minute headstart.

I have finally caught a game broadcasting on a local station (Fox 26, Houston), in English. Two Brits are commentating. I would also note that there was no advertisement in the hydration break.

Very close there - fair play to the swedes some v decent chances after a bad start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,645 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Pity it was offside, game could have done with a Swedish goal.

Sweden should be at least level here, talk about a game of two quarters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,158 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE
