Hi, we're taking the car on the ferry to Bilbao next month and driving into French Pyrenees for some Tour de France stages. We'll be there for a total of 8 days. The only insurance company I can find that offer Euro Breakdown cover for a stand alone Single Trip is AA.They quoted me €130 and thats with a "€30 discount." Is it just me or does this seem a bit steep?Anyone know of any where else I could try?The car is a four year old Skoda Octavia, no problems with it at all so far. Thanks for any help/suggestions

This comes up regularly in the 'France Ferry & Campsite info' thread. Consensus is that yes, it's expensive, and a very limited range of operators actually offering it, but that you'd be lost without it if you did suffer a breakdown or similar.

Has been three years now since I took the car to France myself, but I remember taking out the insurance at the time, despite being as sure I could be that what was then a relatively new car wouldn't have any problems. And it didn't. But for peace of mind, I'd still consider it money well spent.

Use the promo code IRISHFERRIES and you'll get 50% discount. I'm only using Irish ferries for one leg of the trip and Brittany ferries for the other. Just used the code earlier today and it worked fine. You don't need any proof of travel on Irish Ferries.

Bumping this as the promo code IRISHFERRIES still works with the AA.

Add the code at the last step before paying for a 50% discount.
