Mikey has signed up for a tipp team in America thats why he isnt playing club games but is back for the club later in the year He has informed kk colleagues he is going traveling next year and wont play county. Of course that could all change. Buckley and molloy cruciate, mark bergin and david fogarty should be back from cruciate. Last I heard huw was home in December.

I think he is in Chicago but I don’t know with what club

Harry is gone to Tipp San Fran.

Well there's only one senior club in Chicago so it would be Vincents, but I see he's gone to San fran, which I would say is a lot better set up for senior players

Scandalous to play a minor A league final in 20c in Dunmore Where's there's no "drinkable water" county board should be ashamed of themselves. Well done O'Loughlins well earned win.

If they cannot have drinkable tap water they should at least provide bottled water. Also the ref should have a look at his form. A hurl to the helmet that drew blood (no foul) sent a chap off for 5 minutes for a HIA after getting struck in the shoulder but as the other poster said well done O'Loughlins ye have the spine of a good team. Best of luck👍

Just thinking there today the top two in hurling is Cork and Limerick. What do they have the rest hasn't...

The ability to win dirty ball in the forwards is just unreal is no.1 imo.

When moving forward both could not often score goals but when the goal chance diminish they almost always convert the point.

Their height and s and c on them really stand out.

The interchangability of the players is excellent, Downey of Cork can play at 3 or 4 while hergarty can play haf back or half forward to name but a few.

They go long or short and again they change with ease. The players themselves have good hurling brains.

Their goal keepers can go long and short, maybe not Collins so much but still.

Their panels have dept to them.

There's an emphasis on not spilling ball.

The management is second to none. Always thinking two steps ahead.

I see a few mentions of the upcoming club championships in kilkenny. Here are my predictions for the last 4 of each grade. Let me know your thoughts.

    Senior

    Boro, ballyhale, mullinavat, glenmore

    Intermediate

    Village, mooncoin, lisdowney, Dunamaggin

    junior

Harder to call as can all go on form,

    Village B, Fenians, graiguenamanagh, galmoy

Again, with junior, form and injuries play a huge role.

Be amazing if mullinavat can keep performing so well with such mileage on the clock. Although their younger lads are good too, like the dempseys, George o Connor, Mansfield etc. Id put thomastown as contenders anyway after a down year last year.

Would agree about intermediate, village and lisdowney look the top 2 and mooncoin and dunnamaggin have strong squads.

Junior is a total lottery. Most clubs have a realistic chance bar cloneen and slieverue. Can Windgap bounce back again, emeralds and Galmoy were right there last year. Both have excellent players like killian doyle, queally and the drennans. Might be a year too soon for John lockes. Piltown and graiugenamanagh promise a lot more than they deliver

Think you're being a bit generous to Cork there on a few details. Downey (Eoin I presume?) hasn't yet shown that he's a great or effective defender; Cork's scoring touch deserted them in the second half of the Munster final and, like the team itself, Ben O'Connor has yet to prove himself at this level.

You must be from the deep south, mullivat and glen ahead of Ttown!!

Dunno about Mooncoin so high up either, I know a fella there and not expecting too much with 3 of last years starting frwds in Oz. Expecting good things from Carrickshock with Franks over them . Village and Lisdowney top 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

Carrickshock could be similar to mooncoin and tullogher in recent years. One good minor team giving them a boost to make considerable progress. Suppose on the other side they have lads in their late 30s early 40s whose best years are behind them.

not good results in the feile just proves what everyone is saying

Maybe your right but I was basing Corks game on when the defeated limerick in the early stage of the Munster championship.

Anyway the rest are nowhere near them.

Hard to know how teams are going this time of the year with different clubs having different targets. The loughlins and ttown match had a bit of needle recently. Vegas should have oisin knox back this year after the cruciate last year. Tullaron very happy with mulcahy and should have tommy back in a few months but alot of their key players have a lot of hurling done.Marrooned will know but the boro should really kick on now. They have moore, clifford and shine in around the county and a couple of others not far away. I think they have a few lads back aswell. Robbie Fitzpatrick is back in the country. All the shamrocks need is one or two players every year and Jake will be a help. Talking to loughlins person and they are hoping huw might come home a few months early but I dont know if he will.

Skeough going well in the league thing thats on and scally has done a great job keeping them up to be fair. All these results need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Mikey carey will miss the first two rounds of the club campaign and langton is recovering from injury. Barrow rangers missing a good few but jack kelly has being absolutely fantastic a couple of people are after saying. He went travelling after the county final but definitely intresting to see how he goes intermediate. The feeling in the shocks was if they could weather the storm a few young lads were coming. Clara and comer in similar boats. They have a few young lads coming. Ballycallan also winning underage last year will give them a huge lift. Junior is a lottery like it always is. Windgap probably missed the boat. Emeralds definitely coming they have queally and doyle and were very unlucky the last few years.

Its no big suprise but henry will get the senior management job. The only question is who will he bring on board. The only thing is Henry will surround himself with good people and professional set up. S&c needs a big shake up. Would kk supporters have minded a tipp man involved in brian dowlings set up? I know herity was with tipp the last few years. Clubs can send in any suggestions they want but kk county board were always going to play it safe. Tom mullally and dowling have a much better cv but would be more of risk. As marrooned has pointed out theres much bigger problems with underage hurling and the dump not being fit for any kind of purpose it needs to start at the bottom. Loughlins and comer deserved better than the dump last night. The two clubs should of objected to playing in it

there’s a Tipp man involved with the minors and nobody said a word?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,133 ✭✭✭Village87

who competed in the feile Division 1 final this year ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 816 ✭✭✭Rega

Ballincollig of Cork beat Michael Cusack's of Galway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭Marrooned

Dicksboro had that meeting yesterday to discuss the various problems on going in the KK GAA. Did anyone other club have anything similar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭Sir Chaz

Have heard very little about the senior job, only the rumour that Brian Dowling and Henry's names are going forward. Hard to re Eddie Brennan not competing for it as well?
As someone said I'd say the whole 'suggestion' thing from clubs is just lip service. Co board will pick who they want regardless of club suggestions.

Dublin very disappointing again last night. Hard to believe we wouldn't have given both Galway and Clare better games, even if our form this year was so poor.
That head hit on David Reidy was sickening. That tackle is a blight on the game and needs to be stamped out like they've done in rugby. A clear shoulder or elbow to the head, when it's a heavy contact, should be a straight red whether malicious or not. Too many fellas are going in aggressively looking for the big hit, and someone is going to end up with a broken neck. You see it with lads going into rucks or with fellas getting hit spinning out of a tackle blindsided. Responsibility should be placed firmly on the tackler.

We wouldn't have given anybody a game with the septic shite hurling we played this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭Marrooned

I agree can’t possibly win if you’re not in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,133 ✭✭✭Village87

Galway bet us by 15 and Dublin by 7, we drew with Offaly, Wexford were non existant this year. If Cork got a run on us with Deegan and Corcoran in the half back line they would have put hurling out of our heads for a long time. They had half a team in the league earlier this year and scored 2 goals and missed 5 goal chances on a dirty winter day

Best thing is to be honest with ourselves. No excuses we were not good enough. When this season finishes we are 4th best team in Leinster and barely survived in Div 1a. Our scoring has been dismal all season.

What we need to concentrate on going forward is fixing what is wrong with our senior team. IMO who ever gets the job needs to learn from where things went wrong for Derek. Its a complete reset and if I was to do the job description i would be putting in it as a priority is a team rebuild and bringing through youth with a clear hurling identification and fans can see progress as season goes on, followed by qualification to AI series and Div 1A status. Bonus is winning Leinster.

I do think it will be between Shefflin and Dowling. Both have there positives and negatives. For me it would be Dowling. I just think he may have his fingers on the underage scene more than Shefflin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭Marrooned

well Nick I agree with you with what needs to be done, no miracle cure just hard work and patience to try and turn this around. Trying to stay in division one has to be the immediate priority if we are relegated it would spell disaster as it would be another slip a loss of confidence throughout the county and a drop in support, so forget about your Leinster championship until we get over the first hurdle.

The two hidings Dublin got and the one Offaly are getting only further highlights how god awfully woeful we were this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭jimmythesulk

Time for an open draw. Munster teams are so much ahead of Leinster teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 297 ✭✭therealdonster

There is only one true Leinster county that's able to represent the province.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 702 ✭✭✭mullinr2

And we only drew with Offaly, holy crap Kilkenny are a disgrace as a hurling county. We are at best joint 6th with Waterford
