Get the feeling we are going to see a "new" stage that is Heineken branded, they had one at Longitude and EP, I hope its not that, it was a horrendous place

Yep, no mention of Lovely Days on any of the announcements so I'd say the "new" stage is Lovely Day plastered in garish bright green branding!

Oh Lord. That would be a travesty.

Give 'love days' stage a new name but please keep the beautiful black timber cladding... favourite stage over the last few years

cladding on a garbage heap within hours of Heineken deal

With Guinness gone and lots of rebranding I'm fearfull that they will stop letting you bring your cans into the main arena.

I also think greencrafts being gone is bad.

This is how ep gradually became more commercial and went to ****.

I think someone posted fairly recently they have confirmed free flow is staying.

I reckon they know that is one of it key things that differentiates it from EP.

Anyone have any recommendations from the new acts announced?

Removing free flow would necessitate a redesign of the entire site to allow for checks, given the numerous bottlenecks I doubt that could be on the cards, at least not this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭antfin

I think checks would be handy enough to implement if they kept the Bandstand, Global Roots, The Circle and main stretch down to house free flow by putting barriers in before where the stag head is and between The Well/Ping Pong Disco and Lovely Days. If they wanted to fully restrict it they could have checks between Arcadia and Ping Pong Disco (but that entrance was a dangerous mess already more than once last year) and another check coming in before Last City and the also on the lake entrance.

Yea agree they cant do a check coming into the lovely days stage as its a tight enough space and imagine having a few thousand people trapped in that area. If they ever got rid of the free flow there would be a lot of angry people(me included)

Last year was my first year and was the area I saw most acts. Also a good area for meeting with the rest of your gang

Lovely Days was class, but at the back right wasnt there noise bleed from the Smirnoff DJs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,305 ✭✭✭endainoz

Yes it's something that needs addressing. Not looking forward to the dirty green hue that will be all over the place. I'll also miss the big inflatable pint and the toucan aswell!

I personally wouldn't give a damn if the Lovely Days stage is green, once they got rid of the AVA stage beside it. Fair trade off in my books :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭antfin

AVA is on the licence application map in the same location so I doubt there will be any movement. Even if they put something between them to screen the noise it would be helpful.

I know its the last thing people go for but really looking forward to the Comedy stage again this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭antfin

Was Red Bull always a partner? I don't recall seeing any branding if their around the site in previous years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,536 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Yeah I always like the comedy, plenty of good Irish comedians around at the minute too.

Also a victim of sound bleed from the bandstand though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 DK2905

The sound bleed was AWFUL last year in the comedy tent. A couple of comedians I saw (rightly) got really annoyed over it.

Hoping we get someone of the calibre of Reggie Watts.

Oh yes, sadly he looks like he's taking a break. He did play Canada earlier this month though.

For anybody that makes reservations in any of the restaurants, someone asked ATN on their Instagram when Achara from last year or similar will be announced and they said to keep your eyes peeled today.

Anyone see Moncrieff's instagram? could he announce?

Borgo announced as the restaurant this year. We did the Chinese on a whim last year don’t think I could commit to it now but it does look tasty!

Will we get another main announcement or is that our lot, not talking about the smaller stage announcements that are filtering through....definitely feels a bit light at the moment, hopefully anyone yet to be announced will be a higher level than moncrieff
