Hi, I know this is an old post but I’ve found myself in a similar situation, feeling utterly lost. Doomscrolling is not the answer I know, but seeing so many other people feeling the same way is reassuring so I guess I’m just curious if things improved for you?

Mod - OP, I have created a new thread for you, please feel free to expand a little on your situation, in order that posters may give you relevant advice.

Thanks. Not looking for advice really just reassurance it does get better. I’m doing everything right, I’ve been to the doctor, I’m doing courses to get a better job, I’ve joined a club to get fit and socialise, I’ve even started therapy and yet I still feel the same way. It’s only been a few months that I’ve really made an effort but some days it just feels pointless. More of a rant than looking for advice I guess.

    hi bananamaniac,

sorry to hear you are feeling the way you are. It sounds like you are doing the right things so I would say stick with it and opportunities will come.
looking back at my post from 2008 I remember the feeling back then. Since then I have gotten married, had 3 kids, lived/worked abroad twice, been promoted 3 times, done a few more college courses, done a few marathons, bought a house and moved down the country. I’m not saying life is without challenges and issues now but I have grabbed any opportunity & gone with it.

i think what helped me was to make longer term plans, eg I want to be promoted within X years, move to a new house in X years and focus on making progress towards those goals, and you will get there.
