Perhaps already covered, but one observation is that folk may be disappointed to learn that in the event of a power outage, the solar will shut down,as the inverter requires mains power. Obviously a safety issue to protect men working on faults

A battery storage system is also due shortly apparently.

If balcony solar eventually arrives,it appears to being marketed and shown on YouTube as a simple DIY plug and play system for the average ,non technical person.

That's why I wondered if it deserved its own simple thread ,particularly if it arrives in N.I this summer, but perhaps not.

Unfortunately nothing theses days in the world of tech seems to stay simple for long.

If it appears too involved for the average interested person they may turn away, which would be a pity.

In a rural area like mine, folk may be disappointed to realise as pointed out, in the event of a power outage, the inverter will switch off., it would seem that a bipolar RCD may need to be installed by a professional electrician, and 800 Watts is just over 3 amps output current.

The Lidl addition of a 2,2 kwhr back up battery, may be of interest to some, but current output is still relatively small, but its a start to get the public involved.

Thanks, I defer to the larger thread.

Small home solar panels, that are small enough to hang off the balcony of an apartment. They plug into a home socket and power the other devices. Already widespread on the continent and looking likely to become legal in the UK soon, and that often means us following thereafter.
