Apologies, I picked you up wrong. However, the advice about the sunscreen stands..

Got a giggle out of the last sentence so I bow to your fair play

You have reduced your figure from a quarter of a million over two years, down to 10k+ per year, in under 25 minutes. A 96% reduction. And that's without any serious probing from anyone else. You even admitted you were wrong, which actually means you were lying about the 250k figure.

Why should anyone take you seriously and engage with your claims if you are so obviously exaggerating the stats to make them seem worse?

I can't ever understand this way of thinking. If the figures are so bad, just put the real ones out there. If they're not that bad, then WTF are you worrying over them for? If you have to lie about it, then maybe your argument is fcuking stupid to begin with?

To those who hate seeing a couple of brown people walking down the street, it's "rampant".

It's pure attention seeking. He'll flip flop every which way to get a reaction.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

That’s a stat, it contradicts your “10’s of 1000’s each year” statement before it though.

Your “too much…end of !” statement is purely your opinion, nothing more.

Just watched an excellent programme on TG4 about the Belfast Pogrom in 1921 . Pogram Béal Feirste , after the Treaty .

Horrific, so many Catholics burnt out and murdered.

A priest in Belfast wrote a book documenting all the killings and sent copies to Irish politicians and clergy in the Free State as well as church leaders and politicians in NI and the UK .

Nothing was done about it , apart from Michael Collins sending some arms up to help the Catholics defend themselves with some of his men who would have been experienced in guerilla warfare after the War of Independence .

After he was murdered killed the new government in Ireland turned their backs and avoided the subject of the North until late 1960s when they could no longer ignore it .

The books were hidden and destroyed in the North as well never to be spoken of ,but one surfaced in 2000 found in someone's attic and was made public .

How is this not in our history books and discussed as a warning ? We discuss the Holocaust ,Srebeniça and Russian pogroms .

This is what happens when one group of people try to erase another on the basis of religion and beliefs …

Now it's race and colour of skin as well .

This deep hatred engenders a cycle of hatred and revenge which will carry on for generations unless people of sense stop it .

In fairness, the Irish Free State as it was at the time was both brand new and incredibly weak. The British had to offer help during the civil war which says a fair bit.

It's ironic in a rather macabre way that modern Irish nationalism by which I mean the far right kind is fawning over loyalists and their violence now. These are people with culture, language or heritage. Their closest simulacrum is their bonfires, parades and privileges.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

    Leviticus 19:34

    Fixed that for you .

Some posted deleted for veering off to General Immigration discussion. We already have a thread for that, this thread is for the Belfast Riots. Thread Bans will be doled out if the derailing keeps going on.

Sein Fein came out and said they wished people hadn’t seen the video of the attack. Do they feel the same way about the Bloody Sunday massacre?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,605 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

One was carried out by a deranged lunatic possibly off his head on drugs. The other was carried out by the forces of the State.

    Seriously, think before you post.

So you think Iryna Zarutska stabbing in America shouldn’t have been shown either. These are horrific high profile crimes.

Control the news and you control the narrative. Sein Fein are pro migration with lax controls, it’s in their interest to suppress negative stories.

Or maybe it just gives totally irresponsible politicians with another agenda the opportunity to enflame and incite.

    Absolutely

Call me old fashioned but I'm not really that big a fan of plastering footage of graphic, violent crime all over the internet where anyone (including kids) can watch it. I haven't watched the video of the Belfast attack, haven't watched this stabbing in America you mention nor do I have any intention of watching either.

Horrific high profile crimes have always happened, perpetrators arrested, charged and sentenced if found guilty. There was never this need to actually want to watch footage of the crime taking place. I'm sure that lady's family are absolutely delighted though that her final terrifying moments were posted online for the whole world to see 👍️

There does appear to be double standards at play sometimes. Graphic violence is graphic violence, whether it is shoplifters on Henry Street, rioters in Belfast, knife attacks by migrants in Belfast, bombing of Gaza, burning of oil facilities in Moscow, Hamas executing people in the streets, innocents being killed in Kyiv, and it is sometimes difficult to understand why some examples of graphic violence are shown while others are not.

It seems that the days of independent media are over, certainly all political parties are out there controlling the narrative.

Sinn Fein are among the most manipulative but not sure it is on them on this occasion.

It was another crime carried out by a brown/black person.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

And to think another poster had the cheek to accuse me of using a woman's gruesome murder to score points, and funny enough not a dickiebird from that same poster about the above.

Double standards indeed, from Rodney King to George Floyd, if it's not filmed it's at least 10 times more likely to not garner outrage, riots, or simply horror from a human perspective..

'The fight arose when McCartney was accused of making an insulting gesture or comment to the wife of an IRA member in the Co social club.[3] When McCartney's friend, Brendan Devine refused to accept this accusation or apologise, a brawl began. McCartney, who was attempting to defend Devine, was attacked with a broken bottle and then dragged into Verner Street, beaten with metal bars and stabbed.[1] Devine also suffered a knife attack, but survived. The throats of both men had been cut and McCartney's wounds included the loss of an eye and a large blade wound running from his chest to his stomach. Devine was hospitalised under armed protection.[4]

On 27 June 2008, Terence Davison was found not guilty of committing the murder; two other men who had been charged with affray were also cleared.[5]'.
