That's never going to happen though. People would rather fill their brains with culture war nonsense than anything real.

Why shouldn't the rich be taxed more though? And their assets should be taxed, as well as earnings from disposing of shares/etc.

There is no good reason why people at the top of the human and resources exploitation chain should be allowed to retain an exhorbitant share of the communal pie and an obscene license to live as powerful parasites on us all and an affront to equality before the law

The (sadly valid) argumement has been that taxing them accordingly only makes them take their money elsewhere and so the country loses out.

    Appeasement always ends so well.

How come Trump dominates the g7 - he has upskuttled the world economy. Many unknown folk are suffering from his actions and have lost their livelihoods - not to mention the deaths caused by his partner in crimes Netanyahu - in Israel and in Lebanon

Sick to the teeth of his attacks on his perceived inferiors….

He is a great big ignorant nothing!!!

“ Im always right” says he.

    He must surely crash land!

Trump: "You know what the Iranians did? They laughed at Obama and they said he's a stupid son of a bitch."

In which Trump invents an imaginary conversation so that can call Obama a name...

I was being tongue in cheek btw, not because I don't think they should do it, but because I know they won't

Musk wants to say that he's the first trillionaire, then he should be forced to pay the capital gains taxes that got him there at the top rate of tax.

Capital gains tax only gets paid when you 'cash in' your shares but if owning the shares gives them the purchasing power and wealth increase then the should have to do an income return every year and pay CGT on the net increase of the value of all of their assets above a certain value (say 1 billion dollars)

    Ban billionaires

He is an elderly racist piece of sh*t that needs to be consigned to the septic tank of history.

He's been all of those things for quite some time.

But he really has rather suddenly begun to look his age.

He's always been a foul excuse for a human , but he had a certain vitality and energy about him that some found appealing - That has now left him.

He is in rapid mental and physical decline and it's happening in public for all to see

It's insane that he increased his electoral performance in 2024. Utterly, utterly insane.

A DC Circuit judge so far declined to block it, though only because he said more time was needed.

There are two primary causes. Lack of resourcing and lack of education.

The obvious and most important one is resourcing: Are there enough polling sites to meet the population's needs, with enough personnel and machines per site for the anticipated throughput at anticipated times? If not, then you're going to have a line. That is a function of the county electoral board/commission/equivalent. If the county doesn't want to throw the tax dollars at the problem, they will get what they pay for.

The other is education, particularly when there are rule changes. If someone hasn't seen the ballot before, discovered they don't meet a new ID requirement and need to use a provisional ballot, if the locations change, etc, this all leads to a slow-down in the line as they are walked through the process and assisted. This can be mitigated by an education program beforehand, and by throwing additional manning resources at the problem in anticipation of these delays caused by rule changes.

If the leaked memorandum is in any way true then if Obama is a 'stupid son of a bitch', then Trump somehow managed to still lose to him.

Yes, at least more people voted for Clinton than Trump in 2016 so you could blame the stupid electoral college for his first term, but Trump winning the popular vote in 2024 is a terrible indictment of a huge portion of the American public.

I know Ireland is small and therefore easier to administrate , but the rules for voting haven't really changed in decades and our actual voting process is more involved (PR-STV vs FPTP).

The place I first voted in ~37 years ago when I was still living at home with my parents is still the same place that people living in that area vote in today (the local primary school , like pretty much everywhere else) and the rules around what was needed are also still pretty much the same.

Why is the US constantly changing things and moving things around such that "education" is such a factor?

And if the Federal government wants to get involved in Elections then surely the best thing they can do is mandate a certain level of funding to be used to ensure that there are enough people and places available so voting isn't an all day chore for some people.

He still didn't win a majority though,

I saw an article that said that if around 140k voters across the 6/7 key swings States had voted differently , Harris would have won all those States.

Watching his closing remarks at G7 here.

He is visibly deteriorating mentally and physically. Rambling, incoherent, irrelevant nonsense, and all delivered with low energy, his voice croaky and weak. Rubio is starting to look really uncomfortable when standing behind him, listening to an endless stream of BS and lies.

I doubt he will see out the Presidency.

Trump’s tweet blasting Obama’s Iran deal resurfaces after memo leaks

“The terms seem no better than what Obama secured under the JCPOA nearly a decade ago,” Rep. Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, wrote on X. “But today, we can be relieved that gas and food costs will start coming down for Americans. And that no more American or civilian lives will be lost.”

If costs start to decrease, Trump will look to take credit for it, suddenly it will be " I sorted inflation" and he will keep a straight face just like when he is crapping into his diaper.

Trumps America where cops are so gun happy their first response is to shoot first whether it’s a woman trying to pull away in her car or a labradoodle coming to its own door. 20 lAPD cops investigating a noise complaint

He's at the G7 still talking about a rigged election. What a clown. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to hear what the other leaders are saying about him behind his back.

Still licking up to him giving him a German football shirt with 47 on it. Why do so many world leaders feel they have to pay homage to him?

Considering that he can heal the sick, is a medical expert, an expert in everything else too, can stop wars in a day(although he never got around to it) does the biggest, best most amazing things ever done by humanity, then walking on water should be no biggie.
