I'll never forgive the government that tried to destroy our airport, our chance at prosperity.

    I'll never forgive the government

The permanent Government is Dublin based and don't give a hoot.

Save your ire for the local politicos. Who will all turn up for the photo op of the sod turning.

The Dept of Transport, with a staff of anti Waterford officials, are a shameful bunch. No new roads, airport, port investment for Waterford. Single rail line to Waterford, twin line to very place else. Something rotten is afoot.

Our local pols, who could not wheedle 15m Euro from government funds to build the runway, are just woeful.

get ready for a reelection of the same government, over and over and over, and plenty of people from this region to aid in that!

By the time of the next election, the current government will be spinning, the development of the NQs. The delivery of 24/7 cardiac care, the delivery of a University and providing funding to allow commercial activities to take place at the airport.

For a lot of people they will see this as major delivery, as most people are unaware of the difference between a TU and NUI, people will have forgotten so 15 years or so of fighting for cardiac care and they'll see the airport as operational and be happy with it.

So it will be as you were. Also outside of Cullinane, the only prospect of a minister is probably going to come in the form of FF or FG, and that is was Waterford needs, a full ministerial position.

hence why we re probably gonna keep seeing many ffg lead governments, and people be wondering why little change is atually happening, sf are sh1te, but currently, these are our only options!

SF is extremely focused on a united Ireland. Imagine larger urban areas coming before Waterford from Northern Ireland. We get crumbs now, imagine if Belfast and Derry were ahead in the pecking order. Private investment seems to be the only show in town for Waterford. The government were never going to support the airport.

a united ireland is very unlikely, even if there ever was a sf government, its unlikely the public would vote for it if a border pole was called, another scare tactic for a sf government is of course economic meltdown, which again is highly unlikely. a sf government would more than likely result in another centrist government, but with left leanings, but again, all that is highly unlikely, hence a default to more ffg governments, so get ready for, more of them same! noting privatisation is a fundamental part of the economic ideology of ffg, hence very little interest in public funding for certain societal and economic needs, hence, waterford airport, i.e. defund certain aspects, and encourage privatisation, as it removes it from the public books!

again, dont worry about a sf government, cause its very unlikely to happen

This is going off topic but i'd imagine if we did get a united Ireland it would be a decade long hong kong esq type of handover situation with a built in clause of renumeration from the UK Government to ease the transition. In other words I dont think it would be , ' ok you can have it back ,by the way Derry and Belfast need new evertyhing - see ye'
