Currently it looks like a classic north south divide with the warmest and driest weather in the south and east. Time for change though and hopefully the high pressure will push further north right over us to give everyone in the country a blast of heat and sun.

I lived there for years, you still get periods of dreadful weather for weeks in summer but you're guaranteed weeks of being able to sit outside at night or spend the day in a park not worrying about layers etc. So yeah real summers.

From tomorrow onwards London looks like reaching 25C or more for the rest of June and into early July with mid 30s possible on a few days. Dublin looks like 17 to 20C for the most part with maybe 1 or 2 days reaching 21 or 22C, bit of a difference between the two. I hope we see some upgrades soon in the models for us because it's all looking flat as a pancake for us.

an absolutely disgusting afternoon for high summer, a cold chilly damp wind blowing, an endless veil of grey white stratus cloud, a depressing dull light, And faint scent of slurry in the air.

Far too unpleasant to be able to do anything outdoors. Just a vile pig of an afternoon, you can understand why there’s some many addiction problems in this country, it’s at times like this I wish I drank alcohol.

Lol. It's actually not that bad in Dublin, little wind and warm, but yes or course cloud cloud cloud. Got free residents tickets for Kasabian in fairview park so an excuse to escape from the misery by means of alcohol for a few hours at least.

Yeah I lived and worked in Brisbane for 6 months (Oct-Mar) and Melbourne for over a year in the 1990s and they were very different. Brisbane was quite awful with 30C many days and very high humidity. So hot and humid. Constantly sweating when outside. Grand if you were at the beach but a slog during the working week. You just went from air-con to air-con. The decent beaches were also an hour's drive away at least and the worst aspect was that it got dark before 7pm in summer. I felt cheated every evening. Melbourne was a much more a European climate with coldish winters and dry heat in summer. It did get up to 40C the odd day but it was usually a dry heat. You'd obviously avoid those temps during the day but the evenings were still somewhat short. 8pm ish if I recall. It also got dark very quickly.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

let’s see, I’ll just check the listings for outdoor live mainstream contemporary music events in Mayo, nope, nothing,

There’s a novena at the knock shrine later this month.

I lived in Cairns for a while. No air con where I lived. Tropical 30c felt worse than 40c in Western Australia. Give me low 20s and sunny over either any day.

going tomorrow for David Gray, at least it’s tented if weather does turn.

First time in the venue! It's about 500 meters away from gaf so handy. Great to have the concerts on again.

Not too bad in Meath. Morning drizzle and Sunny breaks are gone, but it's dry and quite warm despite the cloud.

I was mostly in WA with a few months in Melbourne, where I lived in WA it was mid 20s - mid 30s for at least half the year with the odd spell of 3 or 4 days at a time where it'd spike into high 30s or low 40's, as a heat lover I loved the climate there and would happily take a handful of unbearably hot days for the otherwise perfect climate for a good chunk of the year.

Melbourne as you say is more changeable without the guaranteed heat and Brisbane northwards is pretty much tropical so yeah a lot more of a humid thundery heat

The long evenings are probably the one thing I did miss about Irish summers, always disappointing seeing the sun set by 8pm even in high summer. Though the fact you could comfortably sit outdoors all night definitely made up for it to some extent

I don't know where you're based but it's been dry and fine though a bit cloudy here (Longford) for the past few days, and warm enough. A major improvement on the first two weeks of June.

We had a few light patches of mizzle earlier today in north Longford. Not a lot but it was heavy for a time just before midday. A really good afternoon and still good heading into the evening. Warm and sultry too. To.oro looks good too, but reast of the week not great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 983 ✭✭✭midlander12

Yep, drizzling a bit now but I managed to get my back 'lawn' strimmed before it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,355 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

It looks like we had rain earlier this morning, but dry and sunny now with some clouds in north Longford. Nice and mild but with a nice breeze, looks like its going to be a nice day. The next couple of days look to be wet. I think we may have a high approaching for next week and it looks good. Fingers crossed.

I woke up at 5am and it was raining quite heavily in west Dublin. Seems to have cleared away now and a pleasant 14c. Feels quite fresh too

The forecast for the weekend in Cork city looks a bit better than the last few days. The rain looks to finish up around Friday at lunchtime and then you get cloud with sunny spells until Sunday. Two days ago they were predicting a bit of a washout. Hopefully it keeps improving

Thankfully Saturday and Sunday looking mainly dry now :)

the pig gloom has lifted today, but now the wind is too strong, with strong blustery gusts…another summers day for the trash can.

I see the old Potatoe blight warnings are up on met.ie always synonymous with trash summer weather and trash summers in general.

Just remember the weather symbol for each day is only the 1pm hour I think so it could be raining the rest of the day and still show that symbol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,512 ✭✭✭✭Thelonious Monk

Warm enough in Dublin and not a terrible day by our terrible standards. Got an hour run in at lunch almost completely in sunshine but it's cloudy now in d3.

Mid 20s is showing for me next week hopefully it stays

    Lovely day

That's three days in a row cycling to work and home again afterwards. Great when the weather is guaranteed dry.
