I don't know what subjects he used to teach but it's scary to think that he has 0 comprehension about himself and his situation and then there's aa possibilty he may teach a subject that requires comprehension. That really wasn't be right.

    From AI:

The phrase "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results" is famously attributed to author Rita Mae Brown. She used this exact definition in her 1983 novel Sudden Death to describe the repetitive and often self-defeating nature of human behavior. While widely popularized—and often incorrectly credited to Albert Einstein or Narcotics Anonymous—this specific phrasing originated as a witty observation in Brown's book to highlight how individuals trap themselves in cycles of predictable failure.

"how individuals trap themselves in cycles of predictable failure." - Could anything be more apt !!

Yeah that's what I always heard. First sign of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. First sign of Madness is Suggs walking towards you wearing baggy trousers.

That’s an Englishism,it’s a “berk” rather than a “Burke”. Generally thought to originally from rhyming slang and a reference to the Berkshire hunt.

A sure sign that any legitimate qualms he had to begin with have been whittled down to plain ranting and raving.

Agree what your saying, at this stage Mammy other protests in the north or Donegal and door stop of government ministers has gained very little traction and has shown them up for what they really are bigots. There doesn’t seem to be a willingness from other family members to be a martyr for the cause like Enoch and they will keep dragging this out for as much media attention as the auld bat can gain.

His rants are costing the state a fortune.

In this one small example, what would the legal fees for the minister be as an example?

At this stage he is so invested in it that back is not an option…

Its a favoured term of my 95-year-old grandfather, one he's used since I was a child, though it being a homonym is quite entertaining.

He's like a hamster on the wheel at this stage. He's really getting places with all this.

For a bigot like Enoch Burke to go around claiming everyone else is biased against him defies belief, well if your normal that is.

    Today will tell the tale.

Be very interesting to see if the Chair did engage with the social media posts around St Patrick's Day posts substantially and if so, that could bring it all crashing down on the Teaching Council.

On the other hand, odd that he names the key witness who was due to give evidence anonymously.

There is a chance that he will be granted this injunction and the Fitness To Teach inquiry will not proceed tomorrow. Expect updates in the press after 5pm today.

He's been given extraordinary leeway in absolutely everything so far, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get his injunction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 335 ✭✭goldsparkle

Surely what he is doing is legal harassment in every way against his previous employer and now the teaching council. It's using whatever sort of legal mechanism he can to bully.

He had previously given evidence to the HC about Enoch, but I imagine having moved onto a new job, he doesn't want his name coming up in google searches in recent history, or even worse, they start harassing him. I'd have thought the request for anonymity was reasonable considering the circus that has been created. I certianly would be requesting it or at least that in documents I am only described as a witness and not by name.

Having watched the video of the family accosting Hildegarde Naughton and the reports from Donegal where they were protesting at a school, you'd understand why people would not want them knowing how to find you or your place of work.

The social media element could provide an avenue for him, depending on what was actually posted. But then again since he claims everyone everywhere is biased against him always, there must come a point where his complete lack of any credibility undermines his ability to continue attempting to use the courts to undermine action against him.

The other thing is that the Teaching Council element (to my understanding at least) only would affect his eligibility to apply for new jobs, but one might wonder what real difference this would make given his pattern of disruption and general poor behaviour would mean no school would touch him anyway.

This is truly costing the state a fortune.

Would his imprisonment affect his Garda Vetting?

I was relieved that they didn’t appear anywhere during Mark Carneys visit to Mayo over the weekend. Security was no doubt very tight but no doubt they'd love nothing better than to make a show of themselves again.

Garda Vetting just reruns the list of what can be found on the record of the person. It's up to the organisation requesting the vetting to decide if what has been provided allows person pass the muster for their needs.

So I guess it's up to the department of education or teaching council to decide?

Just reading that is exhausting, not to mind being there.

So if I'm reading this right, O'Sullivan was present to represent the Teaching Council because Burke had made knowledge of his ex-parte hearing known to various other parties and some-one informed O'Sullivan of that planned hearing. Mr O'Sullivan made several offers to provide Burke with documents he requested but Burke acted the berk making it plain he had no interest in getting them or being told how and why O'Sullivan was in court and was solely intent on rowing with Cregan

The court service naturally was aware of the hearing as part of its duties and may have arranged for an alternative judge and court to be available if the Cregan court was interrupted [as it was]. Following the switch of the proceeding to the other Judge and court, Burke continued to act the berk there as well. The report of this afternoon's session should make interesting reading.

I likw Judge O'Connell's reference to a definition of insanity when describing Burke's repeated questions expecting a different answer each time, similar to the one used here.

Enoch actually emailed notification of proceedings to a general address that was cc'd to O'Sullivan.

"The court then rose for lunch to allow Burke to consider whether to agree to the offer, before the former teacher did so later this afternoon."

That's only the story from this mornings events 😮

Before I saw your post, I had a think through last night about the Burke email and, considering that EB is in Castlereagh Prison he might not have access to electronic messaging at the drop of a hat, with the prison service rules providing and controlling access to electronic devices. It is entirely possible that some other member of the family may have been the sender of the email that entered the CC system, particularly as it was part of the legal judicial appeal and review system the Burke family are engaged in on behalf of EB.

Given how things have been going, success-wise for EB to return to teaching at WHS, and how his family have engaged in jousting with the judiciary over the past two years, an "error" in transmission resulting in the email going the CC route and follow-on arguments by the Burkes in the actual court-rooms over [surprise surprise, the presence of Mr O'Sullivan in the courtroom and how he became aware of EB's ex-parte single party hearing request] could simply be more of the established jousting by the Burkes with the judiciary when the Burkes probably have accepted there's a snowballs chance in hell of EB returning th teaching the German language to pupils at WHS. Credibility is at the heart of the Burke family's dealing with the judiciary on behalf of their son, EB.
